Rice Krispies and a whole afternoon of fun

With the start of summer so bleak at the moment, it is a real struggle trying to keep the kids entertained so I was delighted when BritMums and Rice Krispies launched their Colour me in Linky.

We were sent a large box of Rice Krispies and a wonderful selection of pens, crayons and stamps to get going on our creation.

Isaac was very eager to get going, so we set the table up and got going.

Isaac has just had his school report and he needs to practise how he holds his pens, so it was also the perfect opportunity to try and perfect the correct grip.

Isaac spent a good hour ensuring that his master piece was perfect and even added glittery sunglasses to Snap, Crackle and Pop to encourage the sunshine to come back!

And here is the finished article:

It really is a fabulous activity, and what's more, the contents are scrummy too.  On our box there is a recipe for Poppin Birthday pots.  I gave Isaac the choice of what we would make and he decided that Chocolate Rice Krispie cakes were the order of the day, but their are loads of others to try on the Rice Krispie Website

First we melted the chocolate (and added some butter and golden syrup)...........

Then we added the Rice Krispies............

Gave the mixture a big stir...............................

Licked the spoon...................................

Spooned them into cases and left them to cool.

Hands up who wants one:

Who knew a box of Rice Krispies could be used for a whole day of fun!!!!!
