This year was no exception and although we were disappointed by the absence of a tall ship, we weren't surprised as it was extremely windy.
The event happens on Poole Quay and there were as many spectators in Pirate Costume as there were in civvies. There were stalls, fairground rides, bands and a colourful procession - all which made for a lovely day out. Unfortunately the Pirate boat race had to be cancelled because of the weather.
The kids didn't enter the fancy dress competition this year as all our costumes were in the loft, but they all had an element of "Pirate" about them - Isaac had a hook and skull & cross bones t-shirt and Eliza had her Skull & Crossbones Tutu to wear.
The procession was filled with Pirates, Vikings and even Storm Troopers as well as marching bands, majorettes and floats.
It really was lovely seeing the length some people went to with their costumes, and we even saw a buggy made to look like a Pirate Ship (with a dog inside).
