Olly The Little White Van – A Review

We are big fans of CBeebies in our house and I will be perfectly honest I had never seen an episode of Olly the Little White Van until recently.  When we were offered a DVD of the second series of Olly the Little White Van to review I accepted as I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

What is Olly about?

The show is all about a little white van called Olly.  Like most white vans on the road, Olly is always on the go, running errands and doing useful work.  He doesn’t always get it right but he is thoughtful and tries his best.

Olly is voiced by the wonderful Justin Fletcher, which appealed to me straight away as I know my kids adore him.  The characters are bright, colourful and appealing.  I was worried they may be too babyish for my nearly 4 year old, but I didn’t have to worry – he loved it.

Meet the Gang

Olly – The lead character, playful and fun.

Bazza – Ollie’s best friend who is always up to mischief.  He minds me of the A-Team van

Bessie – She is an old burger van who has been given new lease of life thanks to Ollie

Jethro – He is an old tractor.  He is a bit slow but has many great qualities

Royston – He is a Fire Engine and is a real hero!

Ruby – She is a helicopter, full of fun.  Isaac’s favourite!!

Olly the Little White Van

Each episode is only around 5 minutes long, so is perfect for young children.  The storylines are clear, fun and easy to understand and there is a song at the end of every episode which is Eliza’s favourite feature.  She stops everything to listen and dance to the theme tune and then this ending song, which is the moral of the story.

The Olly the Little White Van website is great too.  There are clips,  games and print outs for colouring in, plus a section for parents and news.  A selection of toys and games are set to be released at Easter too.

In a nutshell, Olly spreads the message to children that helping is good!  You certainly can’t go wrong with that!

Did you know you can also follow Olly the Little White Van on twitter and facebook too for news, reviews and competitions!
