3 looks for £30 Challenge with TKMaxx

When I heard that BritMums were looking for bloggers to complete a challenge in conjunction with TKMaxx naturally I volunteered my services – who doesn’t like shopping for their children and making them look gorgeous?

We were sent a £30 TKMaxx voucher and challenged to buy 3 different looks.

Upon receipt of the voucher we set off for our local TKMaxx wondering what we would find.

My local TKMaxx isn’t a massive one, and if I am honest the selection wasn’t huge.  What they did have though was designer names at a fraction of the high street prices.  I had my heart set on a pair of Royal Blue Bench jeans at £14.99, but they would have eaten up half my budget in one fell swoop.

I like Isaac in a shirt, and although they had a few styles by the likes of Ben Sherman, Animal etc, I decided against it as they were also around the £12 – £15 mark.

I went through the rack a few times, picking out my favourite items and then comparing prices and changed my mind what felt like a zillion times.  At one point I even asked a lovely young assistant for help, and even she couldn’t get three looks for £30!

However, we had fun trying and Isaac adores his new clothes – here is what we bought:

Blue Combat style trousers that mix and match with everything for £7.99 and the below Medals T-shirt by Ben Sherman (£6.99), for an every day look – this is his favourite outfit by far and he is very proud of his “medals”.

Next comes the Sam & Jo Skull & Crossbones Jumper (£9.99), perfect for a visit to the grandparents house, by the river in Hythe!

For those of you with a keen mathematical eye, you will see that my total has hit £24.97.  I tried and tried but couldn’t get three looks under £30, so I made the decision to put some money towards my voucher and get the one item I loved.

Here he is in his Ben Sherman hooded shirt (£14.99) – perfect for parties, meaning my total came to £39.96.

The real saving was, however, what I would have paid if I had bought these items on the high street.  His medals t-shirt RRP was £19.99, his jumper was £24.99 and his shirt was £39.99.

The moral of this story is – if you want something special for your little one without breaking the bank – give TKMaxx a whirl!!

BritMums are holding a #shopsavvykids twitter party on 9th August from 1pm-2pm where you could win one of 8 £30 TKMaxx gift cards too, to complete your own challenge!.  Full details here.  I hope to see you there!!
