Into week 3 of the summer holidays and I heard the familiar cry of “My headphones are broken”. I am not sure who the culprit was, but they had been left lying around and promptly got sat on!!
I put out a cry of help on twitter and was surprised when someone came back to me and offered a set of Tritton Trigger Stereo Headset to review.
They arrived super fast and the boys couldn’t wait to try them. Apparently they look “Cool” which is always a bonus with a teen and a tween in the house.
The Trigger is an entry level headset which is great value for money – £32 on Amazon. The headset is ideal for value conscious gamers, casual gamers and those wanting to get into pro audio but at an affordable price.
What I loved about this product, is that it is fully compatible with any XBox 360 console and comes with all required cables and adaptors. We have two Xbox 360 consoles of different ages so this is a real plus point and they were really simple to set up!
The Trigger has been created with the highest quality 40mm Neodyium magnet speakers enabling a high-fidelity game and chat audio to be pumped out with rich bass and crisp highs. Adjustable chat volume and game volume is available on-the-fly, enabling you to easily fine-tune your audio experience within your grasp.
In other words, the sound that comes out of the headphones is crystal clear. Both boys were impressed with the quality of the sounds and remarked that it was so much crisper than the Turtle Beach headset they had before. Being able to adjust the volumes of the chat is a fantastic benefit too and for the first time, I couldn’t actually hear ghostly voices echoing from the headset. If you choose you can turn the chat off completely, the game noise of completely or both!!
Both boys also remarked how comfortable the headset is, and it fit my 12 year old and 15 year old with no problem at all.
The microphone is flexible too, which provides the freedom to bend the mic into a position that is optimal for picking up the voice – no more shouting into the microphone to makes themselves heard – Huzzah!! The unique design also allows the microphone to fold up and out of the way when not in use AND you can plug it in to your iPod to listen to music too!!
The only grumble I have with this headset is that the cabling is far too long. It reaches from one side of the dining room over to the other. However, if gaming is occurring whilst lounging in a bedroom without little people wandering around it would not be an issue – and possibly a benefit if you had a large room!
I would recommend this headset for sound quality, features and comfort and will in fact be purchasing another so they have one each!
Oh the joys of having boys lol! Reminds me so much of my brother who now works do Sony as part of their game dev team in London so be warned – whilst Kian might grow up his love of computer games won’t wane any time soon!
These look great, I think my 10 year old will be very interested!
