My Dream Garden

I have thought long and hard about which room I would like made over in my house and I can quite comfortably say all of them!

However, there is one area of our house that always seems to miss out on any love and is sat neglected and often lonely, when all around you can hear sounds of chatter and laughter – our garden!!

Let me tell you about our Garden.

As you can see from the picture, it is absolutely covered in pine needles thanks to the Pine tree sat in the park behind the fence and we have just had some new fencing put up.  What you cannot see is the uneven ground (thanks to the previous Gothic owners who had a huge rockery which took forever to remove) and random bits of concrete appearing out the grass in places.  We also removed a huge 8ft high hedge shortly after moving in too as it blocked a lot of light from the kitchen and a large Holly bush, of which the stump just refuses to be moved!!

In the picture behind the trampoline is a huge shed, which is too big for our garden (although I have to admit it is full to the rafters) and to the left hand corner is the worlds smallest patio area and the remnants of the previous owners veggie patch.  Our next door neighbours replaced their fence last month and I have gained approximately a foot of garden, which means my flower bed is now in completely the wrong position too!!

Our garden isn’t the biggest in the world, but it could be so much more and I have a wealth of inspiration on my Pinterest Dream Garden board, which I am adding to all the time.

Firstly, I would love a large crazy paving patio area which stretches between the extension and the fence and across the back door, providing a nice grown up area where we can dine al fresco (well in the summer months anyway), surrounded by pretty fairy lights and a wind chime or two.

The lawn area would be level and well kept, with plenty of space for the children to run and play, but the best bit would be a gorgeous den for the children to play in like the one below, which would have plants and flowers outside to attract butterflies and ladybirds.

I am not the best gardener in the world, but would brighten the garden with some large pots and hanging baskets containing brightly coloured flowers, that the children could help me plant and look after.

And last but not least, I would like a safe step down from my back door into the garden as every time someone new visits, they misjudge the drop and end up falling in a heap on the floor.  This can be amusing at times, but it certainly isn’t very safe so we are currently improvising with a bag of sand!!

  1. Gardens are such lovely places aren’t they. We can do so much with them and involve the whole family into their renovation. It doesn’t matter whether you spend a little or a lot, you can always make it so personal to you.

I’d love to do something with our garden. It’s a huge mass of grass and no flowers. But i just haven’t got the inclination.

  2. Lovely ideas! Gardens are such a central part of a home, it’s great for kids to be able to enjoy themselves in a nice outdoor environment. Love your ideas and the tree house is fab! Good luck in the competition! x
