Spilly Spoon – Review

It is not often that a product has me raving about how wonderful it is, even after the first use, but this one is so good I am kicking myself for not coming up with it myself!!

Let me introduce you to Spilly Spoon.

The Spilly Spoon was created by Philippa in 2011.
As a mother of 3 she was frustrated with the challenge of getting her children to take their medicine when sick.
Either she’d endlessly chase them round the kitchen with a shallow spoon, spilling it everywhere, or she’d find herself trying to administer the medicine in the middle of the night and having to strip the child after they had been covered in sticky medicinal goo or waking up the next morning to pink stains on the flooring.
So Philippa decided to invent her own Non Spill Medicine Spoon. The Spilly Spoon.
The Spilly Spoon is A Non Spill Medicine Spoon with a character theme that is both appealing and child friendly whilst being practical for the parent.
The materials used in the Spilly spoon are medical grade and contain no BPAs or Phthalates and are suitable for the dishwasher and steriliser. As a parent Philippa knows how important this is.
I have issues with both Isaac (4) and Eliza (1) taking their medicine.  Isaac now just spits it back at me from a spoon, but Eliza is a whole different kettle of fish.  Every since she was little she has refused to take medicine, screaming and writhing making it impossible to administer and I often end up showered in it, with it all over the sofa, or her, or both!
First of all, the Spilly Spoon is a caterpillar and looks friendly and fun – not like a scary medicine syringe or a boring measuring spoon and can be used to administer dosages of any liquid medicine from 2.5ml up to 10ml.
It is easy to measure the required dose.
The best thing about it is that Isaac and Eliza can administer their medicine themselves, without spillages.  Eliza wanted me to do it at first, but once I had done it once she was confident and very eager to do it herself! However, it would work just as well with babies as it really is non-spill!

The very best bit was – she actually took and swallowed her medicine without a fuss, as did Isaac!!

Eliza even spent the day wandering around with a now clean Spilly Spoon, giving all her toys medicine too!!

We have used it a few times now, and I can honestly say that I no longer dread having to give them medicine and I shall be investing in a spare – just in case!!

Priced at £4.99 they are available to buy here.

Spilly Spoon can also be found on facebook and twitter at @Spillyspoon where you can find out more about them plus news, chat and offers!

I rate this product 10/10!

  1. Right, I need a Spilly Spoon! I know my 11yo and 6yo are a bit old for a caterpillar spoon, but they are a nightmare with medicine!
