My Festive Playlist

I do love a good festive tune and when I saw the Brit Mums Festive Playlist linky, sponsored by the Cocoa Cola designated driver campaign,  I just had to join in!!

First on my list is my FAVOURITE Christmas song ever!!  Brought to our attention by Chris Moyles on his Radio 1 Breakfast show, this song is guaranteed to get the whole family bouncing, singing (badly) and safe in the knowledge that Christmas is almost here.  It is of course Dominic the Donkey (Jigitty Jig, hee haw, hee-haw)

My second choice is Jingle Bells by Michael Buble and the Puppini sisters.  I adore this version of the song, with a 40’s twist.  It gives me a real festive lift and makes me smile, sing and want to get up and dance whenever I hear it.

The third one is a fairly recent addition and we instantly fell in love with it when it was first aired in 2009.  We downloaded it straight away and it is always on our Christmas playlist.  Throwing in a bit of attitude when you sing the lyrics (its especially good for the teenage members of the family!!).  It is of course – Shut Up and Let it Snow by The Ting Tings.

My fourth choice is pretty much always top of the Christmas charts, and is perfect for some good old Christmas karaoke!  I have been brought up with this song and it never gets old.  How could you not love  a song with the lyrics – You´re a bum you´re a punkYou´re an old slut on junk, Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed. You scumbag you maggot, You cheap lousy faggot, Happy christmas your arse I pray god it´s our last. – Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl

And finally, let me take you back to Christmas 1985 when I was 10 years old and the first Christmas single I ever bought.  The title says it all…….. Merry Christmas Everyone, by the one and only Shakin’ Stevens.  Brilliant, just brilliant *does a happy dance*
