Kingston Lacy is a National Trust property which is local to me, being just outside Wimborne in Dorset.
We have been before, but only to the craft and food festivals and never explored the grounds, despite being told just how beautiful it is so when I was invited to another of their craft shows, I decided we would explore the grounds afterwards.
We found some Wicker cows, which were just beautiful, although couldn’t get up close as the pathway was closed. We also found some real sheep, although Eliza was more than happy to play in the long grass, whilst Kian disappeared off to see if he could climb the big tree.
We found the Bluebell Woods and Isaac was inspecting the bluebells to see if they actually rang like a bell. He discovered that Mummy was silly and they just looked like bells!
We could have explored some more and taken a longer walk, but little legs were starting to ache and being so close to my due date I decided against it, so we headed back towards the house, but not before telling the time with some Dandelion clocks.
Heading into the grounds, we went from natural woodland beauty into perfectly manicured lawns and stunning garden displays and some of the most beautiful colours, set into the back drop of a magnificent house.
There were staff on hand to do guides, talk about the displays and answer questions, but that was something to do another day as we just wanted to explore our surroundings.
The kids favourite part………… a spot of den exploration promoting the new, updated 50 Things to do before you’re 11 3/4. Sadly we didn’t manage to complete one of the tasks on this day out, but we had fun anyway and completed some of our own!
Looks like a lot of fun – the photos are amazing, love your layout! 🙂
