Last week I sent out a tweet looking for comfortable, affordable nursing wear and was met with a huge response.

Several people recommended Mamaway whose slogan is “Nursing in comfort, discretion and style”.

What I found was s website that was well laid out with different tabs for long / short sleeved tops, dresses, nursing bra’s, loungewear and accessories. There was a good selection of different styles to choose from……..in fact I did struggle to choose and have a couple of items that I will go back and purchase when I can afford it.

What I often find with nursing tops is they often feel very “mumsy”, with a loose fit around the tummy and an obvious crossover opening style. Whilst this style of top does have its place, it is nice to wear something that isn’t obviously a nursing top, especially if you breastfeed for a good length of time like me. Mamaway founder Deborah understands this and designs clothes that help you look and feel your best.

I was sent the Stylish Pocket Nursing top in navy to review and it looks just like a normal t-shirt. In fact, it took further examination to work out how it was a nursing top.

What I found was a lightweight second layer underneath the top layer. To feed you simply lift the top layer and the remaining material covers your post baby tummy leaving you to feed baby in comfort. The upper layer can then be adjusted around baby to ensure maximum modesty – perfect!! It is lovely and lightweight too, so perfect for the summer.

Knowing we had some hot weather on the way I also ordered the Barbados Nursing Dress. It is a lovely lightweight cotton and rayon dress and I can confirm I stayed nice and cool whilst wearing it. I have found wearing dresses is more comfortable following my caesarian and this one skims your post baby body (I would have liked the models figure to come with it though).

To feed baby, there is a false white t-shirt panel under the blue material which you simply pull aside. The fabric is nice and stretchy which means you can adjust the fabric once baby is attached for more modesty too.
