Guest Post – Holiday Savings

No one on a holiday needs money worries to ruin their escape from stresses at home. As such planning in advance to take advantage of the huge competition between popular resorts is a great way of being able to relax in the knowledge that you’ll have plenty of spending money when you get there.
Especially in the summer there are hundreds of cheap flights to be found to popular locations across Southern Europe. If you miss booking in advance though don’t panic, last minute deals can also be found preventing worries over prices affecting your holiday.
Popular destinations including resorts on the Canary Islands and the Spanish Coast such as Benidorm have a variation to suit couples, families or groups with cheap flight and hotel offers to match. These resorts are a great place to head as due to local competition costs out there can also be very cheap. Avoid just stopping at the first restaurant you see as with a huge number of bars and restaurants across beach fronts and strips there will be budget options to suit most tastes. Even something as simple as speaking to other tourists about their experiences of the cheaper restaurants and bars can prove vital to finding the perfect affordable night for you.
Going self-catered is a great way to cut costs on holiday and add another aspect to the experience. The risk of wasted food when you miss a meal or eat out is removed and you gain the option of enjoying exploring local towns and markets for fresh local produce or branded items from supermarkets nearby almost all popular resorts depending on what takes your fancy.
When travelling to the popular Greek Islands there are dozens of flight locations to choose from so looking around can yield some impressively cheap options. With the summer season making them popular especially with groups heading for the ‘Party Islands’ such as Kos, Corfu and Zante cheap flights even for large parties can be found from airports across the UK.
When on a group holiday it can be very easy to spend more money because of perceived convenience on day trips and event entry tickets than others buying exactly the same thing. Look around for different places to buy tickets before going straight to your holiday rep for example to buy them. Also discuss with your rep if you’ve found better deals somewhere else. They won’t always be able to make you better offers but it’s worth having the discussion if you can save everyone in your group money.
It is also important when you’re on holiday to set yourself a budget for each area of spending. With nights out, shopping trips and day trips often exceeding planned spending it is vital that you keep an eye on spending in order to adapt your budget as your holiday progresses.
