We were very excited when we got invited to Longleat to attend the launch of Jungle Dogs, even more so as it is where Andy’s Wild Adventures are filmed.
Sadly we didn’t see Andy and Kip, but we did have the most fantastic adventures in the new Deadly 60 Challenge where we found out if we could sprint like a cheetah, climb like a monkey and dodge a rattlesnakes strike. The boys even got certificates after the challenge which are now proudly displayed on their bedroom wall.
We started the day exploring the grounds as the Safari was already full at 10.30am. This was actually a blessing as the grounds were relatively quiet and there was no queuing to see the attractions. First stop was Postman Pat Village which has been brought right up to date with the new series.
Isaac and Eliza had great fun meeting the model characters, pressing buttons to make them move and even posting letters.
Once we moved on from there we headed off to see the new Penguin Island and Stingray Bay.
Followed by Jungle Kingdom and the magical butterfly garden.
By the time we got to Animal Adventure the queues were huge to hold a Tarantula and a Snake so we made our excuses and went to find something a little more friendly. Eliza wasn’t sure but Isaac had a magical time feeding the deer.
We then headed off to get on the Jungle Cruise via a quick tour of the magnificent grounds of Longleat House, but by then the queue was huge so we decided to head off and do the Safari. Thankfully it was relatively quiet in comparison to earlier in the day and we could get around at our own pace.
First stop was the African Village where we got up close to some beautiful Giraffes and some very cheeky Lemurs as well as picking up a Deadly 60 CD to listen to as we did the Safari and questionnaire for the Deadly 60 Safari, which really added to the experience for the older kids.

One of the first stops after the African Village is the Monkey Drive-Thru. You can bypass this if you wish but it is great fun if you don’t mind having monkey’s climb on your car.
One of the best enclosures is the big cats though and the Lions were in a particularly playful mood on our visit and kept us enthralled, although it is slightly intimidating having them walk right up to your car and look in the windows!
We loved Longleat when we went earlier in the year. I have to say off main season is good as you avoid the long queues, we got straight on the jungle cruise when we went and feeding the sea lions is amazing fun. I will definitely go back next year, but well before the summer rush. Glad you had a good day there xx
