A Blustery Scoot along the Beach

With 7 miles of sandy beaches to choose from we are spoiled for choice about which one to visit, so I asked Isaac and Eliza where they wanted to go.  They replied that they wanted to:

  • Take their scooters
  • Go on the Swings
  • Play in the sand
That narrowed it down slightly, so we set off for Sandbanks fairly early as the weather forecast said it would remain dry for the morning, with heavy rain predicted for the afternoon.

Isaac and Eliza dashed off on their scooters and headed straight for the park whilst I followed behind with Sebastian in his buggy.

Isaac and Eliza parked up their microscooters and got stuck in to all the adventures the park had to offer.

We stayed in the park for about half an hour, until it became clear that Sebastian was bored so we decided to go for a walk to see if he would go to sleep.  Plus the wind was getting up and we could see dark clouds starting to roll in.

The kids headed straight for the beach, leaving me with their scooters!

Looking for shells
Eliza excitedly started hunting for shells, and then burying them again and then rolling about on the sand as only a 2 year old can do!

Rolling about in the sand
Isaac was a little more thoughtful in his mission, and lookd as if he was planning something epic.
Looking thoughful
It wasn’t long before they were charging off, making tracks and weaving around the sand mounds.

Making Tracks
By now the weather was starting to turn.  Much as I don’t mind a bit of rain, we really weren’t dressed for it and Sebastian’s raincovers were threatening to blow away with every gust of wind, so we started packing up our stuff to head back to the car.  It went so dark that the automatic flash on my camera came on!

I did try and take a picture of the sand blowing along the beach but sadly it didn’t come out! The kids scooted off for one final lap of the promenade before heading back to the car.

We made it back to the car before the deluge of rain, but did stop on Poole Quay to watch the Kite Surfers and Wind Surfers enjoying the perfect weather for them.  It was quite weird not being able too see Poole in the distance and then it became apparent why as the torrential rain hit…….I am so glad we made it to the car first!

  1. Lovely photos of the children having such a brilliant time on the beach – it’s so evident how much they enjoy it. It sounds like you had a lucky escape with the weather too. Thanks for linking up and sharing your outdoor fun with CountryKids.

  2. I have come to realise that the beach is not just a summer activity. It is a great resource to use whatever the weather. What a fab morning.
