Did you read my post on the Stick Man Trail at Moors Valley last week. We did a second activity that day too – The Tree Top Adventure at Go Ape. With over 1000m of high rope crossings and a brand new zip wire to try, they were itching to get going.
All ready for their training session |
Hubby and Kian were volunteers for this activity whilst I looked after the little ones below. The first thing they had to do was put on their safety gear and take part in a safety briefing and demonstration which took around 15 minutes, and then they were off.
Kian raced off into the tree canopy eager to get started. He was super confident as he had done Junior Go Ape before and has been itching to do the adult version ever since.
Dad followed behind, keeping a watchful eye but Kian was off and flying…..
Literally!
Dad’s turn next – cue a rather comical Tarzan type noise.
Now the first challenge was completed, confidence levels were sky high and there were some serious high-jinx going on. It was so lovely to see them having such fun, stopping to wave and cheer at Isaac and Eliza as they went.
Hubby assures me he wasn’t checking the football scores (he was taking photo’s of Kian – honest!).
I was slightly worried Kian might do himself an injury on this one, but he got across OK in the end.
The best part of the Go Ape trail are the zip lines and they had reached their first one – GERONIMO!!!!!!
ALLONS Y!!!!!!
I briefly lost them as they took part in the next part of the course, which involved their first choice of an easy / hard route (they chose the hard way) as I couldn’t tear Eliza and Isaac away from a particularly large puddle they had found.
Yes I did have to empty their boots when we got back to the car! |
I did catch them coming down the second zip wire of the day…….
Kian gave a cheery wave as he zoomed past…..
Hubby insisted on coming down backwards!
The course does get more challenging as you go around, but that adds to the fun and there was an alternative route to this one that Kian chose to do.
I just managed to get this last photo on camera before the heavens opened and I made a dash for cover with the little ones.
Hubby really was taking photo’s with his phone high in the trees and some show just how challenging the course can be.
The course is beautiful in the autumn with all the trees changing colour and leaves falling around you and we were very lucky with the mild weather, despite the downpour.
Want a birds eye view – check out my YouTube video below and to see more photo’s from our day, see my Google+ page.
Isaac is desperate to do Tree Top Junior and is just tall enough now so we will be back very soon. Us older ones quite fancy taking the Segways for a spin too!
I was provided with two tickets for the purpose of a review.
Well done them. I have to say that this would be my idea of hell! If Monkey wants to do this then Daddy will be the one going with him! #whatsthestory
My boys would just love this adventure. And so would their Dad. Me? Not so much as I’m terrified of heights
Oooh we loved Go Ape when we went last year! 🙂
It does look amazing. I think though in our house, it would just be me who’d want to do it.
It looks like such a lot of fun – tho I think I’d be terrified!
That looks so good, we went to PGL for an weekend like this, its great for the family being together, bonding etc. I loved it, your photos look fab, have a hubby who does the ‘Tarzan’ bit too!! Daft men but we love them.
Absolutely fab post. We have a Go Ape near us and Lucas cannot wait to be big enough to have a go. Your photos are awesome 🙂 Popping over from blogsRus
One day, when I’ve lost a shedload of weight, I am going to do this! It always looks so fun! To be honest, it would be the only way that The Boy could do this because Mr. TBaM is petrified of heights and suffers from vertigo.
