I am so fed up with this wet and windy weather. We have barely been out apart from the school runs and clubs the kids attend and that is so unlike us. I am the first to don wet weather gear and brave the elements, but with warnings to stay away from the beach, rivers and the forest locally it has been hard finding something to do outside.
Sunday saw a brief break in the weather, there may even have been a bit of sunshine, so we headed off in search of some fresh air.
With warnings to stay away from the beaches still in place we headed for Whitecliff, which is set beside Poole Harbour. It is the perfect setting to fly a kite as there is lots of space and after a few attempts we finally got the kite airborne, although it was almost too windy and the kite nosedived back down to earth quite a few times.
As the wind was still very strong Isaac and Eliza couldn’t control the kite so we headed for the park, where they got down to the serious business of having fun!
We spend over an hour swinging, spinning, rocking and climbing before the weather started to make a turn for the worse again. They still had enough energy to race back to the car though.
I had almost forgotten what it was like to be out and about in the fresh air – it definitely blew the cobwebs away!
It seems we all had the same ideas of getting out as soon as a sunny day came!
It is great to make the effort and get out at this time of year, you all look like your having loads of fun!!
looks like great fun! I’m really looking forward to warmer weather so we can get outside more
Lovely, cannot wait to fly a kite with the boys soon! So much fun!#countrykids
It’s been great to get out over the weekend for a change! Looks like you had a lot of fun x
What lovely happy photos of the children having great fun together! A very wise move to keep away from any water at the present. Thanks for linking up and sharing their outdoor fun with Country Kids.
It seems everyone saw the sun this weekend and jumped straight out of the house! It has been raining so much, that sun was so welcomed. It looks like you had lots of fun in the sun 🙂
It was an awesome weekend.
I hope sun will grace us with its presents for longer.
We’ve been going stir-crazy here too. It was wonderful to be able to get out and about in the sunshine this weekend. It looks like you all had plenty of fun x

It was lovely to feel the sun on our faces again. My children were so happy to play out for a little bit.
So glad you made the most of what little sunshine we had over the weekend. Good to see such lovely smiley faces x
It looks like you all had a wonderful time. I can’t wait for a break in the weather and to blow away the cobwebs
I remember going to Whitecliff as a kid to try and fly a kite! I think I ended up on the grass more than the kite flew, but it looks like you all had more success 🙂
Sounds like you had the best time out Kara – there’s nothing better than getting outdoors especially when you’ve been couped up indoors! We did the same at the weekend, the sun came out and we were off!
Look at those smiles 🙂 My little man just learnt the word for kite… so it made me smile a little extra.
You know we’ve been busy with one thing or another too so not really took the kids out. This has spurred me on though – now where’s our kite. (Lovely photos btw)
What a lovely time it looks like you had – I remember the thrill of flying a kite as a kid it always seemed almost magical. x
Yay for fresh air and running about – we cannot wait to get back outside this week! Love photos too!
Isn’t it nice to get out at last!
I used to love flying kites with my son. Looks like everyone had such a fun time!
Aw – looks like you all made the best of the break in the weather. I think it’s all we can do at this time of year 🙂
You know, that’s just made me realise I have never flown a kite with my son! I need to sort this out quickly!!
Looks like a lovely day and made me realise I need to buy a kite!
