Weird Slime Laboratory

My son Kian adores science.
His favourite day at school is Wednesday as that is the day when he has his science lessons and he often comes bounding in, phone in hand to show us pictures of the experiments he has done that day. He enjoys it so much he wants to be a bio-chemist!

When we were offered Weird Science Laboratory by Interplay to review I thought it would be right up his street as you make drippy bouncing slimes & semi-solids & experiment with goo. Discover fascinating slimey secrets and the science of polymers. Each kit contains enough material for the experiments to be repeated several times.Weird Slime Laboratory

The Box Contains

  • Alginate
  • Calcium Chloride
  • Sublime slime powder
  • Red food dye
  • Green food dye
  • Protective gloves, goggles and mask
  • Measuring beakers and storage jars
  • Lab pipettes
  • Stirring sticks
  • Specimen tubes
  • Dish
  • Workbench
  • Colour instruction booklet

The set enables you to create rats gizzards in green pea soup, fake fish eggs, grow gruesome exploding leeches, and even green jelly worms … all by the magic of chemistry!

The set is easy to use with a colour illustrated activity guide, however it does take time.  Making the initial slime takes 24 hours to get it really gloopy.  The instructions say a minimum of 20 minutes of shaking but recommend leaving 24 hours for the best results.  It certainly wasn’t ready after 20 minutes for us.

Weird Science

Isaac adored watching what Kian was up to and they made red fish eggs first.  With more experiments still to try I can see that I may have another scientist in the making, although I think he found the protective equipment just as fun!
