5 simple days out for the kids

Keeping the kids entertained can often lead to some difficult decisions. Where to go? How do we get here? How much money do we spend? However, don’t scratch your head for too long, as the choice can be much simpler than you think. Here are five simple ideas for a great day out the whole family can enjoy!

A picnic
Get some of your favourite snacks and treats together and even get the little ones to help with baking some cakes and making sandwiches. Then, find a nice local spot to lay down a blanket and enjoy the fresh air while you munch on your delicious food. Take a kite, a football and a frisbee, and then work off the calories with a good run around. Maybe the kids will use up enough energy to make for a quiet car ride on the way home!

Take a trip to the beach
If you are lucky enough to live near the coast, make the most of the British seaside by taking a trip to the beach. It’s not too expensive to enjoy the pleasures of the seaside; just remember to pack a towel! Dig out your bucket and spade and beach ball, and, if the British weather decides to play nicely, remember the sun cream! At a number of the UK’s beach resorts you can take part in activities like crazy golf, donkey rides and amusement arcades, so make sure the kids bring their pocket money – especially if they fancy an ice cream!

Take a trip to the cinema
There is nothing like the magic of the movies. The silver screen can transport you to different worlds and present captivating characters and stories that you and your young ones will remember for life. For kids, there are so many amazing adventures to be whisked away on. Coming to the big screen soon is the much-loved children’s television character Paddington Bear – brought to life with the power of CGI and the voice of national treasure Colin Firth. Pack up your suitcase, fill it with marmalade sandwiches and find your closest Cineworld to watch Paddington Bear’s latest adventure.

Visit local museums
If your kids have inquisitive minds, why not nourish them with some local history? It is often the case that there are some great attractions right on your doorstep that you forget are even there. Best of all, they are often free to visit, meaning it’s not so much of a strain on the purse strings to take the whole family. What’s more, the little ones will have fun while filling their heads with knowledge.

Go on a treasure hunt
Think of somewhere you can go for a nice long walk. Then write up a few cryptic clues for your kids to guess on the way. You can even make it into a scavenger trail, by asking them to find things like oak tree leaves, bird’s feathers or conkers. Award points for the more questions they get right, or the more items they find, and can give chocolaty prizes for the winners.
