Butterfly World

Two years ago Isaac raised Butterfly’s at home and adored watching the caterpillar’s grown and change before his very eyes.

Eliza was too young to understand what was going on so this I year we decided we were going to do it again.

I have been sent Nick Baker’s Butterfly World to review.

Butterfly World is a hands-on nature study kit that contains all the equipment required to observe and study the fascinating life cycle of butterflies.

The main difference between this kit and it’s rivals is that it includes a colour illustrated activity guide which helps you to find caterpillar’s in the wild as well as including interesting facts about butterflies.  The kit does not include caterpillar’s, although it does give details of a website should you wish to buy them.

I was very determined to find caterpillar’s in the wild and read the instructions carefully.

We decided against looking for Cabbage White’s as don’t have a vegetable patch, so turned our attention to stinging nettles where we hoped to find some Peacock Butterfly caterpillar’s.

We found the silvery tracks they left, but sadly there no caterpillar’s in sight.  After a particularly vicious sting to my arm we gave up and I have ordered some Painted Lady caterpillar’s for £9.95 which should arrive any day.

The kit contains:

Pop-Up Butterfly
Rearing Cage
Jar Cover
Small Plastic Pot & lid
Paint Brush
Informative Guide written by Nick Baker
Caterpillar Order Form

I plan on tracking our journey on the blog  – please do come back to see how we are getting on!
