If you find yourself watching the TV, going for a walk, playing on the computer, downloading a film or anything else to avoid the dreaded c word, then fear not. Cleaning really doesn’t have to be that bad and can actually be quite fun if you put your mind to it, so click here for a range of dirt-busting products and check out these handy hacks for the home.
Baking soda and vinegar
Blocked drains are not only inconvenient they can also become rather smelly and unpleasant if left for a long time, so here’s how to keep your waterworks flowing properly. At the first sign of a blockage, pour warm water down the plughole before throwing in a large tablespoon of baking soda. Next, add several glugs of vinegar, leave it to bubble and fizz for a couple of couple of minutes (or until the sounds effects stop) then flush through with very hot water. Repeat as necessary and you should find this simple tip stops those irritating backlogs.
Baking soda and vinegar can also be used individually for cleaning purposes. While vinegar’s great for removing stains and spills from carpets, baking soda can eliminate odours. So if you’ve got a pair of smelly trainers or a bad pong coming from the fridge, place a pot of baking soda nearby and get rid of those whiffs.
Lemon juice disinfectant
If you’re looking for a good way to disinfect your work surfaces without making your house smell like a hospital, a good squirt of lemon juice could be just what you need. Believe it or not, lemons have many benefits and are not only an effective natural cleaner but will also get rid of that clinical odour other products leave. They’re great for disinfecting work surfaces thanks to their antibacterial properties and will also bring back the shine to copper and silverware – so try scrubbing your cutlery and pots and pans with this sour juice.
Clean up pet hair with a squeegee
Pets can make a house a home but if you’re sick of seeing animal hair all over your property it’s time to take action. Sweeping, hoovering and picking up fine strands with your hands is tedious so try rubbing a squeegee over any hair-laden area. Use short strokes and watch in amazement as all those little pet hairs come out of your carpet in an instance – you’ll be stunned at how many you collect. While this job isn’t particularly glamorous it’s certainly effective and will cut your cleaning time in half.
We all have busy lives so enjoy a spic-and-span house without wasting your time with a mop or broom.
Till now, I’ve never thought that the lemon juice may be used as a disinfectant. This is almost incredible to believe. I have two-year-old boy and he is allergic to some of the ingredients of the commonly used disinfectants. Now I have a solution to the problem. Thanks!
Hey
Its interesting. Cleaning is important for all. We should keep our world clean like our home. Some stuffs are really helpful. We need to buy them for our safety.
When I worked for restaurants, we would take lemon juice, salt and ice and swish around in glass coffee pots to clean them.
