We have had a wonderful summer, out and about on many adventures but we did have lots of days at home too.
My children love being outside and can often be found asking to play in the garden from 7am, although I do manage to keep them in until a slightly more reasonable hour.
Towards the end of the summer we were sent some family outdoor games to try and I only wish we had them earlier in the season as they are great fun. In fact, because the weather is so nice still they are still being used outside and there is nothing stopping you bringing them back indoors when the weather turns, if your rooms are large enough.
The first game we tried was Giant Jenga and the kids had has much fun building it again as they did trying to stop it falling over. The older children were definitely more skilled at removing the bricks than Eliza, but they helped teach her the tricks and we were soon balancing on a rather precarious tower.
Next up was Giant Snakes and Ladders.
This game definitely produced the most giggles and everyone was determined they wanted to slide down a snake at one point. The giant inflatable die got launched all over the garden, making me run after it, much to the amusement of Isaac and Eliza.
The final game of the day was similer to twister, called Tangled, only we used two inflatable dice to decide what part of the body should be placed on which coloured star.
I have to admit Eliza couldn’t get to grips with it at all as she couldn’t understand why she couldn’t put her hands and feet on the pink stars when the die said she had to do yellow – lets just say she had a meltdown that any 3 year old would be proud of.
Isaac and his friend Alfie played for a little longer but lost interest and moved back to giant jenga. Maybe I will try this again when the older kids are here as they could help the little ones and make it more fun!
