Debbie Sterling is the CEO and Founder of GoldieBlox, an award-winning toy company on a mission to “disrupt the pink aisle,” using interactive construction toys and stories to encourage girls to become future innovators.
An engineer and entrepreneur, Sterling (32) made it her mission in life to tackle the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Sterling’s inspiration came as she thought back on her days studying at Stanford University, where she was only one of a handful of women in her engineering class. The gender discrepancy in engineering was something she was determined to change.
GoldieBlox is an interactive toy, containing a book series and construction set, which encourages kids to build in the context of a narrative. The stories feature Goldie, a girl inventor who solves problems by building simple machines.
I have a GoldieBlox and the Dunk Tank set to giveaway:
In GoldieBlox and the Dunk Tank, Goldie has to find a way to get Nacho clean. The only problem is: Nacho hates water and loves being a dirty dog. After many tries to get Nacho clean, Goldie finally comes up with the perfect contraption. As kids read along, they help Goldie build a dunk tank (and learn about hinges and levers) to get Nacho clean so everyone can go to the carnival on time.
- Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Toy Award – Gold Seal
- A book series plus construction set where Goldie and friends devise a plan to get Nacho clean in time for the carnival.
- Builds spatial skills, engineering principles (hinges and levers) and confidence in problem-solving.
- Comes equipped with 3 design ideas and unlimited building possibilities.
- Compatible with all other GoldieBlox toys.
INCLUDES: Storybook, 1 animal figurine, 1 bouncy ball, 2 wheels, 9 short axles, 18 long axles, 12 blocks, 10 spacers, 2 targets, 3 design templates.
