My travel bucket list seems to get longer and longer thanks to Pinterest and discovering places to visit that I would never have even have known about let alone considered as a worthy tourist destination.
I also have a with and without children bucket list as I hope to travel more with hubby once the kids have left home, although I do realise we have a long time to wait yet.
My current top 3 child-free destinations I want to visit are:
1. Iceland
I am desperate to see the Northern Lights but am also fascinated by geology and in particular volcanoes, so Iceland is the perfect destination to do this.
Imagine being able to climb and view volcanic craters and lava flows, relax in hot springs and watch geysers explode. The opportunity to go whale watching, and explore the immense glaciers aboard a snow mobile and stunning waterfalls appeals to the adventurous side of me too.
The fact that it might be a bit on the chilly side doesn’t bother me either as I don’t cope too well in the hot sunshine, you just add layers to keep you snuggly and warm and there is always the promise of a hot chocolate treat to heat you from the inside out once you are back at the hotel.
2. Las Vegas
A far cry from the beauty of Iceland, but is it? I dream of doing the helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon and standing on the glass Skywalk (if I am brave enough).
Hubby was lucky enough to visit in 2013 for his friends 40th birthday celebrations and had a ball. Las Vegas itself is a sight to behold and I want to experience the glamour of playing in a casino, it just isn’t the same playing online and a trip to one of the infamous Vegas shows such as Cirque Du Solieu will definitely be in order – think hubby may prefer Britney though!
I know Hubby missed out on doing the Sky Jump from Stratosphere Tower and he would love to do that – I am not so sure I could do it but I would be happy to watch.
3. South Africa
We had planned to honeymoon in South Africa but budget restrictions put pay to that. I would love to go on Safari, take a trip to the Victoria Falls which is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, located on the Zambezi River. Following a bit of theme my adrenalin loving hubby wants to zip wire down from Table Top Mountain, although I would prefer a more gentle hand-glide down. He also wants to swim with the great white sharks, but I will more than happily sit on the boat taking pictures and hoping to spot some dolphins instead.
This is my entry into the Joe Blogs Network Bucket List Competition in collaboration with Transun.
Good Luck! Try and do as many as possible while you are young enough to enjoy it!
