I am a huge fan of Helly Hansen and my old favourite waterproof jacket from them has given me 8 years of faithful service and kept me dry on many a school run.
When Abbey started her Duke of Edinburgh award, Helly Hansen was also the brand I went to buy her waterproof clothing for hikes, so I was very excited when I was invited to review their Lyness raincoat.
This Helly Hansen signature is a modernised version of the classic Fisherman´s raincoat featuring a retro design and extra attention to detail. I have the Winter version which has a layer of technical PrimaLoft® Black insulation to keep me warm and the outer has the infamous waterproof breathable Helly Tech® Protection.
Of course, the weather has been glorious recently so I had to patiently wait to put it through its paces, but my opportunity to test its warmth and water resistance soon came along on our visit to Drusillas Park.
It is safe to say that the rain was torrential when we arrived at Drusilla’s and although we did spend time inside until the rain eased slightly, it was still raining when we got outside and the jacket kept me warm and dry.
The jacket is waterproof, windproof and breathable with sleeves with adjustable cuffs which are designed to keep the weather out and you warm, dry, and comfortable. The Synthetic insulation technology has excellent warmth-to-weight ratio and water resistance for superior warmth on cold days, although I have yet to really test this as it has been fairly mild so far.
I love the design of the jacket, it has two substantial pockets are the front which can be secured with a flap and popper over the top so the contents stay dry. It also has a removable belt and that all important hood.
This jacket is going to be my wardrobe staple for school runs and days out for the foreseeable future.

Apart from being waterproof it is very stylish isn’t it.
I love it and it really suits you. I was disappointed to find out that they do not do larger sizes in the UK like they do the rest of Europe, but my boys love their HH coats
