Is it time to take your dog on a pet friendly holiday?

Being a pet owner carries with it a lot of responsibility, and a lot of expense.

Not only are their food and vets bill but there are also holiday’s to consider. Do you put your beloved family pet in kennels, leave them with family or friends or make the decision to take them with you?

More and more places are allowing you to take pets with you these days and with the introduction of the Pet Passport you can enter or return to the UK with your pet cat, dog or ferret without quarantine if you follow certain rules.

I spoke to my parents to see if they would consider taking their beloved Springer Spaniel Hobbs on holiday with them and whilst they wouldn’t entertain the idea of taking him abroad, they often take him for weekends away in the UK as he is a good traveller and happily sleeps in his crate in the car as they drive.

Now you can put your paws up and take Dream Lodge Holiday’s quiz to find the perfect getaway for your pooch from one of eight holiday parks around the UK and start planning which holiday lodges are best for you.

We entered what we thought Hobbs answers would be and discovered that Cornwall was his ideal destination – looks like it runs in the family!

  1. I personally wouldn’t put our dog in kennels. We were let down by our dog sitter right at the last minute so we phoned the cottage owner where we were staying and they were happy for us to take him. He has since been away with us a couple of times and one hotel on Dartmoor even had a doggy gift bag for him on arrival 🙂

  2. My sister took her Vizla to a lovely hotel in Cornwall earlier this year and was really impressed with it. She said it was really close to the beach and very dog friendly but yet didn’t smell doggy. We don’t have a dog at the moment but maybe once the children have grown a little more x

  3. I LOVE taking my chihuahua on holiday with us. He is such an important part of the family and I don’t think I could enjoy myself if he wasn’t there.
