How to organise Christmas Blogging Break

It is just 5 days, well 4½, until the kids break up from school for the Christmas holidays.

They seem to be breaking up much earlier this year and it has thrown out my planning and organising.

I have lots of presents to wrap, still have some to buy, haven’t even thought about writing Christmas cards yet and wanted to get my blog scheduled as much as possible so I can spend quality time with them.

When you work from home it is easy to get lost in the mountain of jobs on the to-do list, there are items to review, content to write and then promoting it across social media. It is not just the promoting though, it is the interaction with followers that takes time, but is the bit I really enjoy.

My lovely friend Joanne has written a great post about time management at Christmas and I have already ticked organising my email inbox off my list. Just need to keep it up now.

Another of her tips is to schedule social media and blog posts which is something I am terrible at. I always plan on doing it, just never seem to get around to it so I have signed up to Hootsuite and made the promise to myself that I will actually schedule some of my relevant content for the Christmas period.

The only social media platform I won’t schedule is Instagram. I love the spontaneity of it and although I know there are some that plan their posts to the 9th degree, it will always be somewhere where I share our family fun as it happens. I do love to go on and look at others photo’s too and will happily sit there liking away. I am frustrated with the new algorithm though as I often don’t see what I want to see and likewise my posts don’t get seen too, but there are sites like Buzzoid that can help you with this.

Her last tip I need to take heed of is tidying my desk. Well, it is not strictly a desk – it is more of a blogging corner / dumping ground and is in desperate need of some organisation.

Will I get 2 weeks off at Christmas?

I hope so!
