I have suffered with Acne Rosacea for over ten years with my main symptom being facial flushing.
The symptoms of rosacea are extreme redness of the cheeks, spots, raised bumps and dry, sore eyes. Triggers include stress, exercise, alcohol, spicy food, sunshine, central heating, cold etc – in fact I often joke that “life” is a trigger.
Rosacea is very common in people with my skin type – I am fair-skinned with a tendency for rosy cheeks and one of the main issues I face is finding a product that reduces the visibility of the redness, yet does not irritate my skin.
I am not a big fan of thick, heavy make-up, as it is not something I have the time to do everyday, but instead prefer to use something much lighter and natural looking.
I have been using BB creams for a couple of years now and have found them perfect for daily wear, thanks to their sheer coverage and lightness on the skin.
BB creams are very similar to tinted moisturisers but go one step further, providing genuine skincare benefits, as well as providing enough coverage to be used in the place of foundation and that all important SPF factor, plus many of them come in different shades so you can find the perfect tone for your skin.
It has taken trial and error to find the best BB cream for dry skin, but I have a couple of favourites that I always keep in my make-up bag and use on a day-to-day basis.
I am very self-conscious of my rosacea, but using a BB cream gives me the confidence to face everyday with my head held high, plus are more reasonably priced than a good foundation.
Do you use BB creams?

I love my BB cream, it’s an easy fix for when I’m going out and gives me more confidence than just my bare skin.
Wow what a great, detailed post. I’ll definitely send a few friends with the condition over to get some advice from the post.
I used to use BB creams, not so much now as for work it’s always a full face part of my uniform due to working on a make-up counter but I sell BB creams and they are very popular!
I do use BB cream sometimes as I do like lighter foundations and things as my skin likes to breathe a bit x
My wife uses BB creams all the time! Her favourite is the Dior Hydra Life BB crème which is a sunscreen moisturizer and has SPF 30, but it costs £46 :/ and is difficult to find…
Oh Ive been thinking about trying one as I dont wear foundation but miss the coverage sometimes. They do sound great!
I use them sometimes and they’ve always seemed good. Great to hear they are good for rosacea and cheaper than a good foundation.
For Rosacea suffers, this looks like it will be a great help – I have a few friends with this condition, so I must mention this cream to them, thank you! x
These sound great, I could do with something light to even out my skin. I’ll look out for these, thank you.
I am ok with BB creams but these days much rather prefer CC creams which have come to love lately
I think using BB cream is an effective way in hiding those red spots.
I love my BB cream, it’s super light and with that a dab of mascara and a bit of lip gloss I feel ready to face the day. The rest of the makeup rarely comes out.
I’ve used these before and I think they’re great! 🙂 x
What bb cream brand do you use??
