Way back in 2016 I reviewed the Peugeot 5008 Allure and it was a car that the whole family enjoyed travelling in.
The Peugeot 5008 has undergone a metamorphosis since then and has now become a three-row crossover SUV.
I have to say that I fell in love with its new rugged look whilst in holiday in France at the end of last year and Hubby as I both remarked what a nice car it was as one overtook us just outside Paris.
We were invited to review the new Peugeot 5008 SUV during our visit to Northern Ireland during February half term, taking it from Dorset to Birkenhead and over the Irish Sea on board a Stena Line Ferry.
I have to admit that it felt huge the first time we climbed inside and I am used to driving a large car – a seven-seater VW Touran.
We soon got used to the size though and enjoyed sitting in a higher riding position which gives a lovely view over the road and scenery ahead.
Being big has other advantages too – the Peugeot 5008 has three full size seats in the rear, meaning it passes the 3 car seat challenge, plus it has plenty of boot space for all our luggage, or you transport extra passengers using the foldaway seats in the boot.
What’s inside the Peugeot 5008?
The first thing that strikes you once inside the car, is how large the dashboard is. It houses two configurable screens, one for the driver’s instruments and the other for sat nav and entertainment.
The ‘i-Cockpit’, as named by Peugeot, is fully customisable depending on your wants and needs. I liked to have the sat nav up on the drivers screen, but you can also choose to have dials, a car image or just a blank screen with just your speed showing in the middle.
The 8″ infotainment system has a touchscreen and features including DAB radio, satellite navigation, Mirrorscreen, Apple Play and automatic dual zone climate control. We were also able to easily change the panel to show kph when we crossed the border into Southern Ireland.
For greater accessibility the touchscreen is accompanied by stylish satin chrome piano key toggle switches, which enable direct access to the wealth of functionality available.
One feature the kids adored was the panoramic opening glass roof, which was perfect for seeing the sights. Thanks to the nice weather we managed to have it open a couple of times too.
The roof also had an electric interior blind and blue ambient lighting for when we were driving in the dark.
The car had tinted rear windows plus sunshades built into the door panel for extra protection from the glare of the sun.
Other features included keyless entry and push button start, smart electric tailgate which can be operated by a button or your foot, blue ambient lighting to front door panels, central storage and cupholders, USB chargers front and back and pavement lighting when getting in and out of the car in the dark.
As in most people carriers, there’s not a huge amount of space in the back of the 5008 with the third row up, with 167 litres of space. Fold the seats down and you’ll find 952 litres of space.
What is it like to drive?
We had the 1.5L BlueHDi 130 GT Line Premium 5dr to review and it was a very comfortable drive, performing as well on small country roads as it did on motorways.
The Peugeot 5008 comes with camera systems on the front and rear of the car to enable you to park confidently. I would say that these are particularly sensitive and it actually put me off when trying to manoeuvre back down a country road to find a passing place, but I soon got used to them.
It also comes with lane assist, which puts you back on track if you start to stray off the road, automatic windscreen wipes, which were surprisingly accurate and automatic lights. I love that it pops the lights on / off full beam automatically too.
There is a Sport button, but we pressed it and didn’t notice any difference in the driving experience, so not sure what it was actually supposed to do.
All in all, it is quiet and comfortable, perfect for family driving!!
The 1.5L BlueHDi 130 GT Line Premium 5dr is priced at £35,815, although a lesser spec model starts at £26,259.

Sounds and looks like a great family car! I am currently looking at new cars as due my second baby and needing more space for a double pram so one to consider! Hope you enjoyed your trip to Northern Ireland!
Looks like a great family car!
I am a big fan of wagons and SUV’s (being a BMw SUV and a Jeep my dream cars) and this one looks pretty comfy and with touches of luxury. The seats looks so comfy and firm and love the integrated touch screen ( i-Cockpit).
Having a higher car really does help on those smaller roads doesn’t it?!
It looks a very nice car and I imagine it would be very easy to drive. I’ve always fancied a bigger car at some point. Not gonna lie, I’d be more interested in German one than French but that’s just me
Lovely car. I’m hoping that at the grand old age of 38 that this will be the year I learn to drive. I fear that I’ve gone past the ‘no fear’ stage and I’ll be too nervous to do it. Not sure I’d be able to drive a big car like that though x
I am impressed by the look of this Peugeot, we’ve always had the smaller versions but this is impressive.
This is a great looking car, I love the height and size. Perfect for family road trips and every day life.
I love the look of this SUV it is so spacious. A great size for my family and it would be brilliant for long journeys too.
I think my favourite feature is the glass roof! That must have been amazing driving through all the scenery in Northern Ireland.
Wow! I love how roomy it is and it looks super sleek and modern!
What a cute car. I love the space.
Wow a good sized car for sure. Looks really spacious too and seems perfect for road trips especially with little ones.
What a gorgeous looking car. It looks great for families!
They really are large cars! My dad is a life-long Peugeot owner and this HUGE one is a head turner – but too big even for us … and we have a VW Sharan! Great for your trip though!
OOh I love this!! it looks so big and super stylish too! Perfect for families, I want one!
I don’t know much about cars but this does look awesome. I love the sound of the i-Cockpit, how useful and modern! x
So much space. Perfect for family road trips especially if you like to take everything!
Reading thorough this, am convinced this is the best car, I should consider for my next new car. So much modern features provided on this vehicle. What a nice drive this is!
That does look like a solid comfy car but also looks quite compact – not as big and bulky as some others. Your holiday looks like it was fantastic!
Oh wow, this looks really cool. My husband is actually looking for a new car. I’ll have to share this with him. He will love this for sure.
Oh wow this looks amazing!? I don’t drive but wouldn’t say no to one of these 🙂
It’s great that the back seat has so many space and can comfortably fit in three car seats as I know how challenging it is when you have kids and back seat room is tight! I love the dashboard feature such as the mirror screen and being able to see say nav clearly.
For me a car is all about space, travel so much so need it. Looks like you had a fab time test driving this car out xx
Sounds like a great car, so many added extras that make life easier. Great photos too.
A good family car needs lots of space and needs to be reliable. Love this review, love the cars features. You’ve taken some really nice photos too!
This sounds like my dream second car, once Lochi is at uni in September we will only need a 7 seater, apart from in the holidays, so this sounds perfect
