10 items you must pack for a holiday at Walt Disney World

You have booked your holiday, arranged to buy Disney tickets, so chances are your bank account has taken a bit of a hammering, but there is a way of saving time and money once you get there by packing the right items.

Being prepared can help make a visit to Disney World as stress-free as possible and these are my tips for must-have items.

A Powerbank (or two)

If you are anything like our family, you will all own a smart phone and use it for taking photo’s. When you visit Disney I recommend downloading the ‘My Disney Experience App’ as you can reserve FastPass+ tickets, make dining reservations, see ride times and view Photopass pictures.

However, having the app open as well as taking the usual photo’s and videos, will drain your battery faster than normal, so having at least one portable power bank and your charging cable with you is vital.

Camera

Yes, phone camera’s are so much better than they used to be, but taking a good quality camera is a must, especially for where the lighting conditions would be more of a challenge for a smart phone, or you need to use the zoom feature. These photo’s are going to be looked at for years to come!

Joy and Eliza

Spare memory card

Disney is so full of memories that you will fill up a memory card in no time, so make sure you take a couple of spares, just in case.

Sebby Star Wars

An autograph book and pen

The highlight of any visit to Walt Disney World is meeting the characters and as well as the photo’s the kids all wanted their autographs too. You will save a fortune if you buy an autograph book or note book before you go. Don’t forget the pen too!

Refillable water bottles

Walking around Walt Disney World is thirsty work, especially when it is hot, but you can save money on buying drinks by taking empty drinks bottles and topping them up at the numerous free water fountains. Most of the ones we found were even chilled too.

Disney dressing up clothes

Disney costumes are expensive in the parks, so taking a dressing up costume with you is a great way of saving money. It’s also a great talking point for the characters. When Elsa met Eliza in her gown, she chatted at great length with her about it, much to her delight!!

Raincoat

When it rains in Florida, it is unlike any downpour I have experienced in the UK. It may be a short, sharp shower but you will get soaked, so take a poncho or a lightweight rain coat.

Poncho

A backpack

If you are travelling with the family a backpack is essential for carrying all the paraphernalia that you will need throughout the day. First aid kit, wet wipes, snacks and drinks are all classed as essential.

Pluto

Suncream and Hat

Whilst most of the queues for rides are shaded, you will still spend a lot of time in the sun, so a good quality suncream and a hat is essential. I would recommend a suncream with an SPF of 30 and if you spend time in one of the water parks, a UPV suit for the kids is a must.

Typhoon Lagoon

Passport

Disney can be a long day and you may fancy a glass of wine with your meal. Well don’t forget your passport as if you want to buy an alcoholic drink you need to provide I.D. and a UK Driving Licence is not accepted without a copy of your passport!

Do you have any other essentials for a visit to Disney World?

  1. Ahhh you brought back all the memories of when I went to Disneyworld a few years ago! Raincoat is right – we went in hurricane season in September and the weather was so changeable – bright sunshine and unbearably hot one minute then throwing it down the next! Sam – Coco Travels

  2. I had no idea that a drivers license wouldn’t be accepted without a passport, but I don’t know how comfortable I’d feel carrying around my passport all the time. I’d love to go to Disney World one year x
