Keeping school whites white with ACE Ultra for Whites in the Britmums #ACEit Challenge

Why oh why did they even decide that kids wear white shirts and socks to school???

It doesn’t matter whether your child is starting school at the age of 4 or coming to the end of their school journey at 18, keeping their uniform looking crisp and white can be a real challenge.

We were invited to take part in the #ACEit challenge and use ACE Ultra for Whites on our white clothing.

Specifically formulated to work better on lighter fabrics; ACE for Ultra for Whites promises to help brighten to dull whites while still being gentle on delicate clothes.

Some facts about ACE Ultra:

  • It’s specifically formulated to help brighten dull whites
  • It’s gentle on delicate clothes
  • It tackles germs and odours, including viruses. That means not only do your clothes smell cleaner, they actually are cleaner – something even more important in the current climate.
  • It’s concentrated, making it among the most affordable ways to keep white clothes looking bright!
  • It’s available in Morrison’s.
  • ACE Ultra includes bleach, so should only be used on white fabrics.

Sebby is notorious for getting white board marker and paint on his shirt on a daily basis, whilst keeping Eliza’s socks white is nigh on impossible as she appears to remove her shoes and walk around outside on a regular basis.

This is a typical white load for us, stained school shirts and dirty white socks:

How to use:

  1. Add your detergent as usual
  2. Pour 150ml of ACE into the drawer marked with the CL symbol, up to the level guideline – if you don’t have this in your machine, you can add it to the “other” products section.
  3. Start the washing cycle as normal

I don’t have a bleach compartment in my machine, so I added it to the draw as I use liquitabs. It has a floral scent, although I did notice it does still smell slightly of bleach. It was then a waiting game to see if it worked.

White Shirts

The shirts I chose to wash were deliberately starting to look tired and slightly discoloured and I was really surprised with the results.

Washing

They have come out of the machine looking much brighter and the dry wipe marker stain on Sebby’s shirt has gone, although a couple of older, more ingrained marks are still there, but only noticeable as I know where they are.

There was some improvement in Eliza’s socks, but that dirt has been ingrained since September so is harder to shift.

I am happy with the results and will certainly be shifting to washing my whites using new ACE Ultra for Whites as I am certain they will keep them looking whiter for longer and as for the smell, it doesn’t smell quite as nice as my normal washing, however, I have found that drying on the line helps, or adding a tumble drier sheet helps take the bleach smell away.

ACE Ultra for Whites is currently available in Morrison’s priced at £2.

  1. ACE seems like a great idea to have around the home, especially when you need whites for school or work. I have to admit I always stay away from white as I am so messy but this might make me change my mind.

  2. I definitely need some of this! My sons school shorts are terrible! It’s the cuffs where he is leaning on the desks!

I’ll remember to grab some next time I’m in Morrison’s… which was only about 3 hours ago sadly!

  3. I’ve never used Ace whitening products before but I’m really impressed by how your school shirts turned out! I’ll try this on my husband’s work shirts.

  4. I don’t even have kids and the white wash is the bane of my life! I’m a little clumsy and always manage to get something down my whites and my husband wears his white tshirts to death so they go grey and gross, with all this in mind ACE sounds like something we need in our lives!

  5. I’m going to look out for this; even though I don’t have children, I am like a big kid myself as I’m so messy! I always seem to have stains on my white clothing, and I never know where from (usually food-related I think!)

  6. It’s really shocking how quickly my daughter’s shirts aren’t white any more, I will have to give this a try as I am having no luck with any of the other things I have tried.

  7. Why do they make them wear white? I’ve wondered that too! I know it’s smart but it really isn’t practical haha. I haven’t ever used ACE before, but I’ll definitely pick some up next time I see it.
