From years of experience, finding the right car seat for both your child and your car can be a huge challenge, especially when rules and regulations change.
Buying the wrong child car seat could mean you’re putting your child’s life at risk, so it is important to do your research first.
BeSafe is a Norwegian company, dedicated to developing the safest possible car seats for children of all ages. Like a true Scandinavian brand, BeSafe prides itself on its innovation and design, with a spirit of adventure at the heart of everything they do. They enable families to travel at ease, with the knowledge their children are safely secured in the car.
Launched in 1963, BeSafe has equipped parents with the best travel solutions for children for over 50 years. A specialist family business full of heritage and craftmanship, continually evolving with the needs of everyday family life, with one core vision ‘to keep children safe’.
We were invited to review the BeSafe iZi Turn for Lilah, which can be used rear-facing from 6 months up and then forward facing when they are ready, until the child is 4 years old.
After spending years of wedging myself in a small space and contorting myself into various shapes as I tried to wrestle an unwilling toddler into their car seat, this turning traveller spins forward, rearward and everywhere in between, featuring full 360° rotation that allows you to easily take your child in and out of the seat from any angle.
It has been proven after many years of testing that rear facing child seats are 5 times safer than forward facing, so BeSafe strongly recommend to keep your child rear facing all the way to 105 cm (approx. 4 years). However, the car seat gives you the option of using it forward facing if needed.
The iZi Turn i-Size offers advanced levels of ease of use and adjustability to the child and features Two-Fit Cushion™ provide extra comfort and stability.
The car seat also has a Dynamic Force Absorber, state-of-the-art, innovative headrest design. Created with a honeycomb placement of V-shaped materials, allowing for controlled bending in the inner area of the seat, whilst keeping a rigid outer frame. By bending like a trampoline, the seat allows for a perfectly controlled and very gentle cushioning of the child. This gives them the most advanced protection in the event of a side impact collision.
This brand new design advances the car seat industry away from the traditional polystyrene side impact support, which most car seats are still currently made from. The new Dynamic Force Absorber is not restricted to just one impact that polystyrene will only withhold, making their seats more durable with a longer lifespan. This feature is also available on the iZi Twist, iZi Turn and iZi Modular Seats.
Abbey has a Nissan Juke and has struggled to find car seats to fit inside, and despite looking huge when we first got it out of its box, it fits brilliantly and takes up less room than the Joie Spin 360. In fact this car seat beats it in practicality too, as has 4 recline positions too and is super simple to install as it has Universal Level Technology, a special seat-and-base design that is constructed even for the most sloping of car seats, normally found in smaller cars. I love the little spirt level that is on the stalk that tells you if it is fitted properly.
It is easy to convert as your baby grows, as the Two-Fit Cushions™ give smaller children extra cushioning and stability when they start using this toddler seat, but by being made of two parts, they can be taken out separately as the child grows older, allowing you to adjust the sitting and belt position in the iZi Turn i-Size perfectly to your child.
The BeSafe iZi Turn i-Size is available in 6 colourways and has an RRP of £449 and is available from John Lewis.

This looks like a great ca seat, we will need to look for new ones soon for our grandchildren so will keep this in mind
That looks like it comfy with lots of padding. I love that it swivels, I wish there had been a car seat that did that when my boys were young.
It looks like a fab car seat! I did a podcast recently about car seats, they’re such a tricky bit of equipment but so necessary!
This sounds like a really great car seat that will last a long time, while still staying comfortable. It has some great features too, plus it looks so plush!

I-Size will reduce the confusion some parents have about whether their seat is suitable for his or her child. Currently, car seats are found in weight categories, however many children are different weights at an equivalent age. With i-Size, car seats are going to be categorized by the peak of your child something easier to live offering less confusion.
I just bought this car seat, I love it. However the padding behind the head is very thin, I don’t know if there is a reason for it?
