Finding the perfect advent calendar for children can be a minefield as there are so many on offer.
I have three younger children aged 12, 9 and 7 and there favourite advent calendars over the years are ones which build into a set.
We have previously bought a Playmobil Advent Calendar every year and the set always gets brought out again at Christmas, getting bigger and better each year.
This year, there are 11 Playmobil Advent Calendar’s to choose from and the kids were sent one each to review.
Pirate Cove Treasure Hunt for the Advent
The countdown to Christmas begins with the hunt for valuable treasure on the pirate island!
The valuables are well hidden, so pay close attention to the treasure map!
Inside the box is a cardboard island scene, which you gradually add to each day as you open the calendar doors. Hidden in the calendar is a floating boat and working cannons to help you find your way to the golden prize.
The Pirate Cove Advent Calendar has an RRP of £19.99 and is complete with an octopus, skeleton, many accessories and two figures.
Christmas Toy Store Advent Calendar
Christmas shopping and visiting Father Christmas in the toy shop isn’t going to happen this year, thanks to COVID, but you can build your very own toy shop with this Christmas Toy Store Advent Calendar. RRP: £19.99
The cardboard scene is a toy shop in this calendar and figures include Father Christmas himself, a snowman, visitors to the toy shop wearing their Christmas jumpers and of course, lots of fabulous presents.
Santa’s Workshop Advent Calendar
The elves have their hands full trying to finish the many toys on Santa’s list in time. Even late in the evening, by the light of the workshop lanterns, presents are sent down the slide for wrapping and loaded onto the sleigh.
This calendar features Father Christmas, his helpful elves, a sleigh pulled by a reindeer and even a working lantern so the elves can work throughout the night so all the girls and boys will get their gifts on Christmas Day.
The Santa’s Workshop Advent Calendar has an RRP of £34.99
We cannot wait until Advent starts properly so we can build our sets and add to our previous ones.
Have you had a Playmobil Advent Calendar before?

What a lovely and different advent calendar and one which will encourage kids to play and be more creative with their imagination.
I do like advent calendar’s that aren’t all sweets + chocolate for children. This is a lot more fun for kids as we all know they love toys. Quite a good idea x
I’ve not seen these calenders before. It sounds like a fun one that my son would enjoy.
I remember loving Advent calendars when I was younger. I think the Santas Workshop Advent Calendar is my favorite out of these.
There are so many great advent calendars now and it’s nice that there are lots of ones that aren’t food-related. I have a mini pop vinyl one x
I’ve heard great things about Playmobil advent calendars. The Santa’s workshop looks lovely.
I loved Advent calendars as a kid, and I can’t wait to gift one to my kids this Christmas.
We love Playmobil and Nila has got the fairy princess
One this year to open ,
So excited!
We love the Playmobil advent calendars – they are so good for the price and are great for kids imagination.
Looks like an extremely interactive advent calendar! Really nifty that they have different sets to choose from, so families with 3 kids (like yours) — or 4, 5, 6 etc can give each kid a unique set. Less confusion over who’s is who’s, so a much more peaceful Christmas! Happy Holidays!
I haven’t even thought about advent calendars yet, I am so unorganised this year! I love the Playmobil Christmas one, I think my 2 year old would love it.
