Project 365 2022 – Week 32

This week the Met Office issued an extreme heat warning for four days and we have certainly felt it.

It has not been as high as July’s heatwave – when recorded temperatures in the UK topped 40C for the first time – but the extreme heat has lasted longer. I was very glad to be in work, for much of the week as it is lovely and cool.

Here is our week:

Sunday 7th August

With Sebby at Cub Camp, we headed out with Eliza and Isaac to the local fair as there were some rides that they really wanted to try.

I used to love the fair, but after going on three spinning rides in succession, I did end up feeling a bit sick!

After we had finished, we headed into Christchurch and treated the kids to a milkshake at the Ducking Stool.

Monday 8th August

Eliza loves the Lottie Brooks books and after meeting Katie Kirby at Camp Bestival, has been nagging me to try Bubble Tea, as its Lottie’s favourite drink.

I had the fruit tea which was delicious, but Eliza opted for the milk tea and wasn’t as keen. She does want to go back as we have since discovered they do a butter beer flavour one.

Tuesday 9th August

I am enjoying being at work, despite it being busy as it’s lovely and cool.

We did make the most of the weather after work and enjoyed a barbecue in the garden.

Wednesday 10th August

Another work day for me and Eliza went to a friends to do some baking.

I promised her a few weeks ago that I would take her to Kasper’s for a waffle for a Mum and daughter treat, without her brothers – yes, she managed it all!!

Thursday 11th August

Another work day for me.

In the evening, Isaac went to Splashdown with his Explorer Scouts group. The sunset was beautiful when he finally emerged, but my photo really doesn’t do it justice.

Friday 12th August

Pick Sebby up from Cub Camp day.

He proudly told me that he hadn’t had a shower all week and was filthy, but he had an amazing time and made lots of new friends.

We stopped at Burley on the way back through the New Forest for a special ice cream treat, as he missed out earlier in the week.

It was then home for a much needed bath (which was filthy when he finally re-emerged).

Saturday 13th August

It is stifling hot, so I created some shade in the garden, using the swing, an old sunshade and the washing line. Eliza was happy swinging underneath it for a bit of breeze.

Sunday 14th August

Hopefully the last day of the heatwave. The kids spent most of the day in the cool, hot tub!

  1. I’ve not tried bubble tea. It looks interesting though. Lovely to have some one-to-one time with Eliza going out for a waffle – I’m very impressed she managed to eat it all! Sebby looked like he had fun at Cub Camp. The hot tub looks like it was the best place to be during the heatwave. Hopefully the rest of the summer will be cooler! #project365
