Thank goodness for the end of the heatwave, I have never been a fan of extreme heat so it has been an uncomfortable summer in places.
This week we have celebrated a birthday, a wedding and a new sport to enjoy. Well new to me, Eliza and Sebastian. My husband used to take Kian to Speedway all the time when he lived at home.
Here is our week:
Monday 15th August
Eliza is attending summer school this week, to get her used to her new school and hopefully make some friends.
It is still really hot outside, so we enjoyed a day at home, catching up with housework and reviews.

Tuesday 16th August
Finally some rain, although not enough for a decent puddle to jump in – thankfully Lilah was happy with this small one.

We had been forecast thunderstorms, but they seemed to bypass us, but the garden was happy for the little bit of rain that we did get.

Wednesday 17th August
A work day for me and Kian surprised us with a trip home. He had worked the night before and was asleep when I got home, so we left him in a nice quiet house, whilst we headed out to watch the speedway. The start was delayed by nearly an hour whilst they tried to clear the track of water, thank to a torrential rain shower just before we arrived.

Thankfully, once the racing was underway, the kids were happy to put their phones away and were excited to watch the action unfold on the track.

Isaac watched Speedway a couple of weeks ago with his friends, so was happy to explain the rules to Eliza and Sebby.

By the end of the evening, they were all fully invested in the racing and were extremely happy that Poole Pirates won.
Thursday 18th August
Eliza’s last day at Summer School and we had a presentation in the afternoon to show us what they got up to.

They enjoyed science experiments, forest school, orienteering and a little bit of school work and despite being her least favourite subject, Eliza got a maths star award.
Friday 19th August
Work for me, so the kids spent the day with Kian.

The only photo I have from the day is one of me making the bed – I don’t even remember it being taken!!
Saturday 20th August
Kian’s 22nd birthday!!

It was also the date of my step-brother’s wedding, so the plan was to get ready, take Kian to the station and go to the wedding. Despite double checking the trains were running the day before, all the trains were cancelled thanks to the rail strikes.

Kian had arranged to go out with his friends in Bristol, so my husband had to drive him home whilst I went to the wedding on my own.

Sadly my husband missed the service and the afternoon tea, but he did make it back for the evening.

Sunday 21st August
Another family event, this time our annual family barbecue.

The beanbag game was the firm favourite of the day and yours truly is currently the reigning champion 🙂
How was your week?
It sounds like you all had a fantastic time at the speedway and the summer school sounds fantastic for Eliza. Happy birthday to Kian and I love your dress for the wedding. x
Love your dress for the wedding. Such a pretty colour. That’s great Eliza had a summer school. It would have been nice for N’s school to do something like that, but they only did it last year when they got the extra government funds.
That Super Mario set looks amazing. How lovely to have a surprise trip home from Kian and happy belated birthday to him too. Well done to Eliza on her Maths star award at the summer school. What a shame your husband missed the wedding service and afternoon tea – glad he was able to make it for the evening though. #project365
Laughing at your inclusion of the bed photo! Fab glam wedding photos #project365
