Project 365 2022 – Week 37

It has been a strange week.

The news has been filled with the news of the Queen’s death, with programmes celebrating her life, interwoven with all the images of the tributes and the royal family coming out to meet the public.

There has been the queue to end all queues, with people waiting up to 14 hours to pay their respects to the Queen. I would have loved to have gone, but my kids cannot queue at a theme park without a fight breaking out. My MIL did go on Wednesday with her sisters and had just a 6 hour wait.

Here is our week:

Monday 12th September

I have changed my hours at work so I don’t have to work weekend’s anymore, which is a relief.

My only picture for the day is of a donation of tea, coffee and biscuits for a local charity.

Tuesday 13th September

We all had dental appointments last week and this week was Isaac’s follow-up for the hygienist, because he had a build up of tartar. Thankfully we have an NHS dentist so didn’t have to pay extra for it.

Wednesday 14th September

There has been lots of discussions with the kids about the changes that will come with King Charles III. One that was mentioned was the post boxes and the kids didn’t believe me that there were still some around from the reign of George VI.

I took them to see one and they were impressed – not sure the googly eyes were part of the original design though.

We also found this gorgeous Post Box topper tribute to the Queen, complete with corgi’s, Paddington and a knitted crown.

Thursday 15th September

We have noticed more and more Christmas ranges creeping into the shops this week, with the kids eyeing up a Pokemon Advent Calendar – not at £40 each though!!

Friday 16th September

Since the loss of her Praying Mantis, Eliza has been asking for a new pet.

She has her heart set on a bearded dragon, but we are worried about the cost of running a vivarium, so my husband has brought home a leaflet so she can create a business plan for one.

Saturday 17th September

My Uncle visited from London with my cousins, who we haven’t seen for years.

We went out for a lovely lunch with my Dad and then walked it off with a stroll along the beach.

  1. It has been a strange week. I admire those who have queued to pay their respects to the Queen.
That is great news that you are not working weekends anymore. It must make home life a little easier.
Oh wow! I didn’t know there were still post boxes around with George VI on. I will have to have a look at the one’s local to me.
Eek! That is expensive for an advent calendar. Keep an eye on it though it might drop in price closer to December. My eldest got a half price Fortnite Funko one on the 30th November. lol x

  2. Fab news that you’ve been able to stop weekends. Must make doing everything with the children much easier. I can’t say I’ve ever looked in detail at postboxes, but I feel like I should now. You’re much more into unusual animals than we are. Thankfully N only ever talks about dogs.

  3. Your MIL was fortunate that she only had to queue for 6 hours. I too would’ve gone if I lived closer to London. Hope you enjoy your new hours at work. The post office said they won’t be introducing any new post boxes unless they need replacing
