Finding family days out when the kids are older can be tricky, as getting them outside the house can be a challenge.
Like many families with teens and tweens, mine love gaming and they would quite happily sit indoors on their games consoles all day, every day, if we let them.
We were invited to review High Score Arcade in Poole and when I mentioned where we were going, the kids were all switched off and ready to leave on time.
Situated in the Dolphin Centre, High Score is a free-play amusement centre, packed with games to either reminisce or play for the first time.
The benefit of High Score is that there is no need for a pocketful of change as all their games are set to free play, allowing you unlimited goes for the duration of your 60 minute session and all for just £11.95 per person (cheaper if you buy a family ticket).
There are over 80 games to choose, from old school classics including Space Invaders and PAC-man to pinball, sports games and the newest arcade fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The hardest part was choosing which ones to play first.
Isaac and his friend really enjoyed the games where they could compete against each other, whereas Sebby preferred to try his hand at pinball under the expert guidance of Dad.
An hour isn’t long enough to try your hand at all the games, but we had a good go and the kids have all asked to go back again.
You save 20% when you book 4 tickets, with least 1 Adult and 2 Children required at £38.24, plus they offer party packages too.
