Project 365 2024 – Week 44

Half term………….and relax!

Well, as much as you can when you have three kids to ferry around, but it has been a nice break from work and we have enjoyed some fun days out and ticked off some jobs that needed doing.

Here is our week:

Sunday 27th October

We were invited to not just one, but two Halloween trails today.

The first a daytime Halloween Trail at Minterne House near Dorchester

Bridge

It was a lovely peaceful day out, with a pumpkin trail to work out the word, some games areas and some fun spooky things to pose with along the way.

Our second trail was the Halloween Experience at Moors Valley, which was a lot spookier as held in the dark.

Moors-Valley-spooky

It was absolutely brilliant, still a family event, so no jump scares, but spooky and eerie enough to make the kids walk a bit faster at certain points.

Monday 28th October

After the excitement of yesterday, it was a much quieter day and as the weather was wet, we didn’t leave the house in the daytime.

In the evening, I met up with the PTA ladies to pop raffle tickets into envelopes so they can go out next week once the kids are back to school.

Tuesday 29th October

Isaac has picked up lots overtime this week to earn extra money for Christmas, so I dropped him at work before taking the kids to High Score Arcades in Poole.

They really enjoyed it and its nice to let them try games without having to worry about them needing extra money, as you just pay an entry fee and then everything is free to play.

Wednesday 30th October

The last term was an eye watering 8 week one, so the boys were in desperate need of a haircut!!

As Isaac is 16, he has a set hairstyle which takes a bit longer to do, so Sebby decided that he was going to clean up whilst he was waiting. He actually did a pretty good job.

We then realised what date it was and that we hadn’t bought any pumpkins. Two supermarkets later and none to be found, but thankfully our local Co Op had four small ones left, so the kids had to make do. (Yes, I did eye-roll myself, as I even said I would buy them the weekend before)

Thursday 31st October

For Isaac’s birthday back in April, I bought him a flying lesson as one of his career path options is to become a pilot. I regret buying it through an experience day site as I had to book it six months in advance, so it was a long wait. Today was the day and Isaac was very excited, but sadly, we got a text message to say that it was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions, although when I checked it said some cloud, but no wind, so now we have to rebook.

Instead we headed to local Athelhampton House, which is apparently the most haunted place in Dorset.

Sadly, much to Isaac’s disappointment, we didn’t see any ghosts, but they did have a Tudor re-enactment there, so we got to see how the Tudor’s would have lived back in the 1600’s.

We got to try pottage and soul cakes, as it was Halloween and learn how to cast pewter, how to fletch an arrow and the shoot using a long bow.

In the evening, Sebby went Trick or Treating with his friends on our estate, whilst Eliza met her friends who live near her school. They have been planning their outfits for some time – thank goodness for Vinted.

Introducing Glinda, the good witch from Wicked!

I am slightly relieved she didn’t choose Elfaba, as I didn’t fancy trying to get all the green paint off!

Friday 1st November

We headed over the border to Hampshire first thing, to pop in and see my Dad as its his birthday on Sunday.

It was then a mad dash home to be back in time for a plumber who stripped all our sealant and re-did it. I have wanted it done for a long time as I couldn’t get the mould marks out, but despite buying the kit, both my husband and I weren’t confident to it. I just need to replace the bath panel now.

Saturday 2nd November

A road trip to Farnborough for BlogOn.

We take Lilah with us now and Sebby is still young enough to enjoy it. Eliza enjoyed earning some money by working in the brand den by demonstrating how to use a 3D pen. She was an expert by the end of the day.

I worked it, mostly selling raffle tickets, but also taking stuff down at the end of the day and helping to set up the Daddy Bears after party.

  1. The Halloween trails look like fantastic fun!
Well done to Isaac picking up some overtime and Sebby helping to clean up in the barbers.
Oh no! That is a shame about Isaac’s flying lesson being cancelled. I hope he doesn’t have to wait too long to get in the sky!
I love Eliza’s Halloween outfit! Such a pretty dress! x

  2. The Halloween events looked great! I wish I booked something too, as I feel I miss celebrating it properly. We were out with a friend on the day, so I have no idea if children came trick or treating.
What a shame about the fly lesson getting cancelled.

  3. Ah the end of an era with Blogon. Love Eliza’s outfit, very pretty. Cool that you got to do the Halloween trails. I have to admit I’d never do one un the dark. Hate the thought of something jumping out at me

  4. The two Halloween trails both looked really good. How lovely to have an arcade where you just pay an entry fee and everything is free. What a shame that Isaac’s flying experience was cancelled and has to be rebooked. Athelhampton House sounds like an interesting place to visit. Love Eliza’s Glinda costume. Looks like you had a great day at BlogOn. #project365
