It has been a very busy couple of weeks for us, sadly not with that much fun stuff. I have mostly been working as we have quite a few team members off poorly, or playing Mum’s taxi for the kids.
Here is our week:
Sunday 10th November
The kids are in final preparations for their show “An evening of Song”, so had rehearsals in the morning, followed by a LAMDA acting exam for Eliza.
We think it went well, but are still waiting for the results.
Now Isaac is in sixth form, he wears a suit to work, which means ironing, so he decided he needed to learn – he didn’t do a bad job!!
Monday 11th November
A busy day at work, one of my colleagues didn’t turn up for her shift to do the change run, which resulted in me doing it at super speed when I started work. The rest of the day didn’t really improve as we have lots of absence, but I got through it.
In the evening, Tesco offered free cinema tickets for staff to go and see Red One for the launch of the new Christmas advert. The kids enjoyed the film and we definitely appreciated the free evening out.
Tuesday 12th November
Our washing machine has been on its last legs for quite some time and with the call out fees for the repair man more expensive than the parts, I decided enough was enough when it flooded the kitchen and invested in a new one.
I was going to fit it myself, but it is in quite a tight space, so paid the extra for it to be done – thank goodness I did as it was a little more complicated than I thought.
Wednesday 13th November
Our day off and it was spent running around picking up raffle prizes for our Festive Friday school fair which is coming up. We did stop for a cheeky lunch at a local country pub.
Thursday 14th November
Sebby had his first parents evening for secondary school, which went really well. His last video call was for his form tutor, who used to be Eliza’s and is also Isaac’s maths tutor, so the kids decided to go on the call instead – cue much giggling from all involved. (He is also our Father Christmas for Festive Friday – hence the costume).
Friday 15th November
I have been getting my nails done since the summer as a treat to myself and I have been getting braver with the colours. We are all very excited by the launch of Wicked to the cinema and I couldn’t decided between being team Elphaba or Glinda, so I went both and got one hand done green and one pink.
Saturday 16th November
I run a charity bookshelf at work, so we are always getting donations of books, but they are not normally ones that my bookworm Eliza wants to read, so imagine her excitement when we were donated all the Wicked books – lets just say they all came home with me.
For Christmas, the boys want their room decorated as it hasn’t been done for about 10 years, so my husband spent the day emptying it out – it looks so much bigger!!
Sunday 17th November
An Evening of Song day has arrived!!
The kids were out early for final rehearsals, so it was a long day for them, but definitely worth it as they performed songs from some of their favourite musicals.
Monday 18th November
Stripping the boys room has given me a bee in my bonnet about updating some other areas of the house. We have had a really ugly, old electric fire in the lounge since we moved in and I have seen a bioethanol fire that I would like to install. I asked my husband to see how easy it would be to remove the old one and a few screws and a mallet later and it has gone………wish we had done it sooner!!
I haven’t seen that wallpaper since we moved in!
Tuesday 19th November
I bought Eliza some bows from TEMU and ordered myself a sparkly one. I haven’t worn my hair up for years, but Eliza did it for me before work and I really like it.
Wednesday 20th November
A beautiful day, so we headed to Swanage for lunch and a walk along the beach.
It was the first really cold day we have had, but thankfully the sun warmed us up. These are my favourite winter days, sunshine but chilly and the beach was empty apart from a couple of hardy dog walkers.
We come to Swanage quite regularly but haven’t explored beyond the town, but this time we headed out to Peverill Point, which was beautiful.
Thursday 21st November
What a difference a day makes!
We rarely get snow here in Bournemouth thanks to our proximity to the sea, but we actually saw proper snow for a couple of hours. Sadly not enough for a snowman or snowball fight, but enough for the kids to be excited.
Friday 22nd November
The boys room is almost finished. We have had new coving put up, which just needs painting and another coat on the walls and hopefully we can start moving the furniture back in at the weekend.
Saturday 23rd November
The day has arrived………..WICKED!!!!
Wicked is one of my favourite musicals and I have seen it four times, so I was quite skeptical about seeing the movie version, but it was AMAZING. I completely understand why they have cut it in half and really loved how they told the story. I am not a fan of Ariana Grande, but she was the perfect Glinda and Cynthia Erivo is just incredible as Elphaba. Just disappointed we have to wait a year for part 2.
How was your week?
I’ve never seen Wicked, but the movie was amazing, so now I really want to go and see it. Just such a trek to London, and not sure any of my friends are that keen.
It does sound like you have been busy and a shame it hasn’t all been the fun stuff.
Good job to Isaac with the ironing and how fab to get free tickets to the cinema.
I love your nails, perfect for Wicked and the hair bow is so pretty! x
Fab find with the charity books and glad you enjoyed Wicked. I’m not a musical fan, and I find the cinema and theatre too confining, I prefer books and the TV with a pause button. The nails looks fab, I often have one hand painted different to the other. Too many people calling in sick at my work place, take it easy, it doubles your work and you get no real thanks, however those cinema tickets for a free family out sound good.
Hope Eliza did well with her exam. Good to see Isaac tackling his own ironing, maybe you can start to add some of yours to the pile? Hope the boys are happy with their room, the paint colour choice is nice.
Hope all went well with Eliza’s LAMDA exam. Glad Sebby’s first secondary school parents’ evening went well. Love the Father Christmas costume and that’s a lovely photo of the kids giggling together. Sounds like they had a great time doing An Evening of Song. What a beautiful day for a walk around Swanage. Glad you enjoyed seeing Wicked. We’ve not yet managed to see it but all the reviews sound amazing. #project365
