Project 365 2024 – Week 48

December!!

How on earth is it December already?

Sunday 24th November

When we went to the cinema with Tesco, we were given a pack of gingerbread men to celebrate the new TV advert and now the kids are obsessed with gingerbread again, so I bought them a gingerbread house to make.

Eliza was in charge and Sebby was “the muscle”, as they added an entire interior of miniature gingerbread men with chairs and a bed. I didn’t get a picture of the finished house, it was demolished and eaten before I got a chance!

Monday 25th November

A busy day at work, setting up our Winter Food Collection. I fill all the bags with items that our local foodbank need, with each one adding up to different values, so customers can choose what they wish to donate.

Tuesday 26th November

The decorating has finally been finished and I am really happy with the results. I would live to get the bannisters changed eventually, but for now it looks a lot cleaner and brighter.

Wednesday 27th November

It is the school Festive Friday fair on Friday and we had a day of running around doing last minute jobs for it, although we did stop for a cheeky breakfast first.

Thursday 28th November

A very busy day at work as I think everyone is starting to get ready for Christmas.

In the evening, we were invited to the launch of GLOW Marwell Christmas lights experience.

We have been going the last few years and we were relieved that it was dry this year, as we got drenched a couple of years previously. There are lots of new light displays to enjoy and it was nice to see Father Christmas back this year too.

Friday 29th November

A day off work for Festive Friday. This is our busiest event of the year and we have been a bit light on donations this year, as the cost of living crisis is continuing to pinch, but thankfully it all came together in the end. We didn’t raise as much money as we have in previous years, but it was still a popular event which raised over £1700 for the school.

Saturday 30th November

Next year, please remind me to book the day off work after Festive Friday – I was shattered!!!

I am not sure how I got through the day, but thankfully I managed………just!

  1. Ahh! We have had that gingerbread house in past years and it’s fab! It sounds like the kids had a great time making it.
Good job with setting up the Winter Food Collection and Festive Friday! £1700 is a fantastic amount! x

  2. Glow Marwell event sounds lovely. These light trail events are always relaxing and fun. Well done for raising funds, it is a good sum even if it’s lower than last year.
As for the gingerbread house, if you didn’t take pictures of it being decorated… it might worth getting another one to decorate. 🙂

  3. That’s a great amount you raised for school, well done. I love the light trail, I’m hoping we’re going to one next weekend. I might just decorate a gingerbread house for myself, they always look so fun to do, just can’t eat it unless I can find a gluten free one. Love the photo of the 4 of the you looking so chilled out.
