Project 365 2025 – Week 20

Hasn’t the weather been glorious?

It has reminded me of lockdown year, with wall to wall sunshine. I just hope it lasts and doesn’t disappear with the arrival of another bank holiday and half term.,

It has been a fairly quiet week for us. Nothing came of Isaac’s self tape, but him and his friend now have a long list of university and college open days they want to visit.

Here is our week:

Sunday 11th May

I worked today and it was surprisingly busy all day. I had assumed we would be quiet as it was such a nice day, but everyone seemed to want to shop!

Our garden project is continuing and Eliza was keen to restore her fairy garden, which has been ignored for a few years.

She has created a path, added some lights and ornaments and planted some sweet peas along the fence. We just need to get some bedding plants now, or plant some meadow flowers.

Monday 12th May

I have been raising money for Waifs and Strays Cat Rescue at work and joined their Facebook page to be able to post updates, when a post appeared looking for a new home for a 10 year old cat called Ruby.

Mum lost her cat earlier this year and I knew she would love her, so I arranged to go and meet Ruby, to see if she would be a good fit.

Ruby came straight out to say “Hello” and enjoyed a cuddle, so knew she would be perfect. She has to be chipped, immunised and needs some dental work, but hoping to pick her up at the weekend.

Tuesday 13th May

Enjoyed a productive day at work catching up on community bits and bobs. I have had a long call with the local food bank, to put together a plan of action for the year and sort out some issues that they have been having.

My only photo today was the charity bookstand.

Wednesday 14th May

A much needed day off in the sun!

After running a few errands, I decided to head to the beach for a walk and found two more mermaid tails. I’ve found about 15 now, so 15 more to go!

I know the quieter sections of beach, away from the holiday makers, but it was still busy for this time of year. I also treated myself to a giant ice cream at the half way point – they’ll definitely get smaller as the season gets underway.

Thursday 15th May

I grew up in a garden with a massive rhodedendron hedge to one side of it and I always love seeing them come into flower. Bournemouth seems to be full of them at the moment and the whole place is filled with pinky / purple flowers around every corner.

Friday 16th May

What a day!!

We had software issues for a few hours, which caused issues with customer’s club card apps and our checkouts. Thankfully most customers were really patient, whilst we attempted to sort it out, but some were really not happy about the inconvenience.

Doing the garden is getting quite addictive in this lovely weather and extra ornaments and lights keep falling into my shopping basket.

I have a slight obsession with highland cows at the moment and this light was a must buy – meet Myrtle!

Saturday 17th May

An early start for me and we were very short staffed, so it was lunchtime before I got a break. I wasn’t impressed to receive this photo of the breakfast I had missed out on.

Thankfully, the software issues of yesterday were not repeated, so it was a smoother day, despite the lack of staff.

How was your week?

  1. You’re so lucky to always have the sculpture/artworks around your way. We had a short set in Oxford last year that I never get to, but otherwise haven’t had any nearby for about 10 years. So many shops at the moment are having software issues with all the hacking and more minor bits. That’s lovely to find a new cat for your mum. Ruby looks v cute

Aww! The fairy garden is just adorable and how lovely for your mum to have a new cat. She is beautiful. Myrtle is a little cutie too! x

  3. I love the fairy garden. We used to have one when the kids were little, and they loved it.
That’s fantastic news about the cat, I hope your mum enjoys having a new companion.
I’ve had to be very restrained when it comes to the garden. I want to buy all the things, but it’s a very expensive hobby.
    Have a lovely week.

  4. The fairy garden looks so nice. I love it. Have you tried seed balls? They have a mix of flowers and that might be just the thing for the fairy garden.
I am happy to hear that your mother and Ruby like each other. I hope they will get along perfectly.

  5. Sorry that nothing came of the self-tape audition but well done to Isaac for going for it anyway. Good luck with all the university and college open days. I love that Eliza was keen to restore her fairy garden – it looks lovely. What a beautiful cat Ruby is. How lovely to have a walk along the beach and find some more mermaid tails. Glad the software issues got sorted out. Shame you missed out on that lovely-looking breakfast though. #project365

  6. I’ve got a neglected kids fairy garden, I must sort it out. that looks like a fab charity book stand. That breakfast looks fab, but how annoying you missed it.
