Although not a club swimmer anymore, Eliza still loves to be in the water, whether it be the beach, or working as a swim helper in the pool.
As I teenager, I avoided swimming at all costs during my period, but times and technology have changed for the better. At £49.99, period swimwear isn’t cheap, however, I took advantage of a discount code I found online and took the plunge.
The WUKA period swimsuit, looks just like a normal swimsuit, although the gusset area is thicker, like normal style period pants. Although you can feel the difference to a normal swimsuit, this is not noticeable to others and it is a game changer for some of Eliza and her friends who still swim competitively. Eliza chooses to wear hers with a pair of shorts over the top when she is working, but that is her uniform.
WUKA, the UK’s pioneering and leading reusable period underwear brand, is back to make a splash— this time with its most refined period swimwear yet.

Built to Move
Sporty, streamlined, and secure, this racerback cut swimsuit is designed for performance, so you can move through the water with less resistance even when your period is dragging you down. Crafted from a thicker fabric for maximum support and a more sculpted fit, this new swimsuit is ideal for those who don’t just dip in the water— but dive, sprint, paddle, and push for more.
Period Protection You Can Count On In The Water
Made from high-performance, water-repellent fabric and lined with WUKA’s award-winning leak-proof technology, this swimsuit locks in your flow and keeps water out, ensuring you can swim with ease, confidence, and total comfort, without compromise. No pads. No tampons. No stress. Just swim, with peace of mind.
How it works:
- The aquaphobic outer material repels water, while the highly absorbent gusset locks in your flow, preventing leaks and allowing you to focus on the fun, not your period.
- The ultra-absorbent built-in gusset acts as your complete tampon, pad or panty liner replacement – offering full leak-proof protection in and out of the water.
Eliza has the plain black swimsuit for work, but WUKA have just released a a new colour drop—it’s the result of two years of listening, testing, and evolving. When WUKA first launched period swimwear, the brief was simple: black, discreet, functional. Then came requests for more choice – cue WUKA’s five vibrant shades of swimwear. But the community spoke up again—while the brighter colours quickly became best-sellers, some raised concerns about visibility during periods, especially with lighter shades on the bottom.
So, WUKA listened, learned, and evolved the design. The result? A bold, performance driven, swimsuit that combines WUKA’s best-selling swim styles into one elevated, two-tone design.

Looking after your swimsuit
After use, rinse with cold water until the water runs clear. This is best done immediately after removing.
Pop your WUKA with similar, dark coloured garments and wash cold inside out. Don’t use fabric conditioner and do not tumble dry – dry your WUKA Period Pants outside on the line or indoors on an airer.
By doing this you will increase the longevity of the product.
It’s about time someone made period swimwear that actually works! Like, I can’t even imagine how stressful swimming during that time was. Anyone else feel like this could change the game for them, too?
