For those of you that have followed my blog for a while, you will know that Isaac and Eliza are keen performers and love all things musical theatre. In fact, Isaac is in the process of applying to study it at university.
They currently attend Jamie Lee Dance Academy in Bournemouth, where they attend musical theatre classes, workshops, dance and singing lessons, so it was very exciting when we discovered that singing teacher and musical legend Adam, along with his friend Alex, were writing their very own musical – The Shocking Truth about Flat Earth.
We were introduced to some of the songs as a kickstarter event at Lighthouse, Poole a few months ago and have them regularly playing on our Spotify playlist, and last week we attended their workshop performance at The Cockpit Theatre, London.

The Shocking Truth about Flat Earth is a brand-new, original musical comedy that blends conspiracy and catchy tunes to tell the story of a woman who believes Earth is flat… and now wants to prove it. Join Sharon, best friend Debs and an unlikely bunch of misfits as they set out to discover the truth about the shape of the world — and, along the way, their place in it.
Sharon Hargreaves is disconnected from her friends, her family, and herself – spending her days lost in an online community of people who believe Earth is flat. When she decides to finally visit a Flat Earth convention in Vegas, in a moment of mistaken identity, she is propelled on an incredible journey to (literally) the end of the earth… with hilarious, heartbreaking, and heartwarming consequences.
This musical uses the ‘flat earth’ theory as a lens to explore something bigger: misinformation, belonging, and what we do when we’re at our lowest. With wit, heart, and a truly unforgettable score, The Shocking Truth About Flat Earth offers audiences both laughter and a mirror. It’s farcical and funny… but with a heart.
I have to say, that it was brilliant. I had heard the songs, but didn’t really know the story and it flowed beautifully from beginning to end, with so many laugh-out-loud moments throughout the show.
The cast were all amazing and their performances were stunning. As a workshop, there are minimal props, but the performers drew your attention to them and told the story with humour, passion and emotion in all the right places.
They only had a three-day run, but I am positive that The Shocking Truth About Flat Earth will be back on a bigger stage soon – it’s different to anything else I have seen before and truly brilliant. Well done to everyone involved, you all fully deserved that standing ovation!

I never thought I’d get hooked on a Flat Earth article, but this one really made me stop and think. Which part surprised you the most?
