Finally show day has arrived, although I was not prepared for how intense the weekend would be.
I worked my normal shift at Tesco and then headed to the Pavilion for chaperone duties and ended up doing a full-on, 16 hour day.
Sunday was almost as bad, with a 13 hour day, but it was all worth it to see the final performances and they all did so well.
Here is our week:
Sunday 16th March
SHOW DAY!!
Finally, after months of rehearsals and preparation it is show day and we were at the Pavilion Theatre by 9am.

Despite the early start, the first show wasn’t until 2pm, so the morning was spent doing final rehearsals.
As a first time chaperone, my eyes were fully opened to behind the scenes work and I spent the show by the side of the stage, helping with super-fast costume changes, last minute fixes, prop instructions and words of encouragement. The kids all smashed it, of course.

Isaac and Eliza performed in Great Gatsby, Wonderwall and Mamma Mia, with Isaac also a footman in Cinderella, whilst Lilah was in Mamma Mia and C’Mon Everybody.

Monday 17th March
Next time I am a chaperone, I am taking the next day off as I was shattered for my 5am start and let’s just say the day didn’t start well for any of us.

I did get an exciting delivery at work – we have Sensory Support boxes in each store and mine arrived today. I hope this makes shopping easier for some of our customers.

Tuesday 18th March
Thankfully a more uneventful day at work than yesterday.
Sebby has started Chess club at school and was keen to test his new found skills against Isaac. Sadly Isaac won this time, but I think Seb will be beating him in no time.

Wednesday 18th March
If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that we have had mould problems upstairs for some time and have done everything to try and get rid of it.
The one thing left on the list was the insulation, so we got some quotes to get it replaced. It now turns out that the felt has perished and all needs replacing, so we have had to clear the loft ready for the work to start next week. We started well, then got distracted by old photographs!
Barney is the spitting image of Callan at the same age!

In the evening, it was a trip to the Pavilion to see CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG on tour, which was brilliant.

Thursday 19th March
Back to work for me, so I left my husband to finish clearing the loft out.

It’s the shame the pitch of our roof is too shallow, as it would make a lovely space for an extra room if it was slightly higher.
Fingers crossed this work fixes the problem.
Friday 20th March
With the loft empty, we now have the unenviable task of sorting through years of stored memories, deciding what to take to the tip, what to the charity shop and what to keep.
Ten bags of kids fancy dress clothes have been donated so far, a mega tip run and we still have stuff to sort through.

Eliza had a friend round for the evening and they all settled in the dining room for a rather raucous uno session.

Saturday 21st March
My friend Tracy makes memory bears and Callan and Chelsea sent up some of Barney’s first baby clothes for her to make into a bear.

I am so pleased with the result and cannot wait to give it to them. when I next see them!
How was your week?
Well done to the kids on doing so well with their show and to you too on your first time chaperoning – what a busy weekend you all had. The sensory support boxes are a great idea. Good luck with getting the loft insulation replaced and with all the sorting out. How lovely to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – it’s such a great show. Love the memory bear. #project365
