When I was offered the chance to review some Hama Beads, I have to admit I was unsure what I was getting myself in to, as when my older children went to afterschool club they used to use them there and I remember beads all over the floor as well as the gorgeous creations the brought home.
We were sent the Hama Fashion Jewellery set to review, which understandably didn’t appeal to Isaac and Eliza is too young. However, my 5 and 6 year old mindees were very impressed!
In the box were full instructions, lots of different coloured Hama Beads, template shapes, plus strings and larger beads to make jewellery with.
The set kept the 6 (almost 7) year old mindee busy for a good hour and she took great delight in making coloured hearts for her family. I was impressed by how all the beads stayed in the box and didn’t go all over the floor as I had feared. Once she had finished she simply presented the hearts to me and I set them with an iron and some special paper – easy peasy!
Hama beads are recommended from age 5, however my 5 year old mindee did struggle as they can be quite fiddly. She did however complete one heart that she was very proud of, but did manage to get the beads everywhere, despite supervision.
The other good thing about this set is that I still have plenty left, and intend making Christmas Decorations with the shapes and some of the larger beads. The leaflet inside the box gives lots of ideas too!
I don’t think any young lady would be disappointed to find these under the Christmas Tree, and I shall be buying some for my niece for Christmas (Sssshhhh don’t tell her).
