Last Monday we were invited to Longleat for a lunch with the team from Jungle Dogs. Billed as the healthy alternative to hot dogs, I was intrigued to find out more.
We were greeted by a colourfully laid out marquee with a Jungle theme – brightly coloured card & paper animals hanging around and an inflatable palm tree that seemed to have caught the kids imagination as they worked up an appetite as they used it for various adventures.
We were introduced to Tina O’Brien who has been involved in helping create child friendly recipe ideas which can be viewed on the Jungle Dogs Facebook Page. She was so friendly and down to earth that we heard all about the inside scoop on Strictly Come Dancing and even some Corrie and Waterloo Road gossip.
As for the Jungle Dogs, I was impressed with both the taste, the quality and most of all the meal ideas! I have to admit that I tend to cook the same things, so having something this versatile is always a bonus – especially as you can serve straight from the packet! The packs come in two vacuum sealed sections with three 30g sausages in each so they won’t be wasted if you only have one child to feed and you make both hot and cold recipes with them.
The Jungle Dogs themselves are made with quality cuts of Pork, naturally smoked and contain no artificial colours or flavours with significantly no MRM so no mum guilt serving these. They can currently be found in the chilled aisles at Tesco for a very reasonable £1.20 with plans to launch them in other supermarkets very soon.
Eliza and her friend Olive were most impressed with the kebab idea, I loved the wraps and the potato salad but Isaac preferred them in their own and sat devouring a whole plate of them with his brother and Tina. For the cold lunch box recipes I have blogged them here with hot recipes to follow.
We had a really fantastic day out and at the end I got to exchange my kids for a Crocodile, a Panda and a Kangaroo.
I almost lost Sebastian too……
