Project 365 2023 – Week 42

Half term is finally here and although we haven’t gone away, we have managed to squeeze in a few nice days out.

The weather has taken a real turn for the worse, with torrential rain affecting us, but it is still too mild for this time of year, I am waiting to dig out my winter jumpers!

Here is our week:

Sunday 22nd October

Now the kids are a bit older, I thought that our pumpkin picking days would be over, but they all requested a visit to the farm and who was I to stop them.

We decided to try somewhere different and headed to Bincombe Bumps Pumpkin Patch near Weymouth, which offered activities for older children alongside their pumpkin fields.

Wheelbarrow

We were pleasantly surprised by the price of the pumpkins as they were not much more than they are in Tesco, plus the kids got to try their hand at archery and axe throwing.

Monday 23rd October

We love our air fryer, but it’s only a single one. During the recent Prime event, the Dual version was almost half price, so I decided to invest in a new one and it has come in so handy over the last week and we have cooked most meals in it, including cheese on toast as our grill isn’t working.

Tuesday 24th October

The kids asked to go into Poole to sort their halloween costumes, Eliza is a character from Heather’s and Sebby’s request was to be a monkey warrior. We thought Primark would be the location to go, but sadly had no success.

We managed to find a skirt for Eliza in a charity shop, but the rest came from Vinted in the end.

Isaac is playing Lumiere in the upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast, so we also bought some gold paint and got to work transforming an old pair of my step-dad’s shoes.

Wednesday 25th October

Today we headed to the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu to experience their Halloween events.

We got to try our hands at potion making, enjoyed a ghost story and traditional Halloween baking in Palace House and had to find the ghosts in the museum itself.

Thursday 26th October

Sebby’s birthday was back in June, but he didn’t have the birthday party we were planning as one of his classmates beat us to the date we had free. I have been promising him a trip to Paulton’s Park with a friend ever since and today we finally got to go.

I love Paulton’s Park as the queues are nice and small compared to some of the larger theme parks and we didn’t wait longer than 20 minutes for any ride.

For half term, Paulton’s also offered late night opening, so we made the most of it and riding the rollercoasters in the dark definitely added to the experience.

Friday 27th October

After two busy days, we decided it was a day to relax, but the kids did get to carve their pumpkins that we picked on Sunday.

We have found that the trick to good carving is to print out templates first and then carve them. I think they turned out well.

Saturday 28th October

We headed to Bristol to go and see Kian. His housemates have a gorgeous dog called Russell and they were planning a halloween photo shoot with him, so we tagged along to Stoke Park to help out.

I think it is safe to say that Isaac now wants a dog as he fell in love with him.

The drive home was a little scary as we had torrential rain.

That air fryer sounds amazing, I am really thinking about getting a similar one soon.
Paulton’s Park sounds like a great day out. x

  2. The weather has been a bit extreme hasn’t it. I was debating that airfryer too. We don’t have one, but I’d need to clear quite a bit of space and lose my music/posting corner in the kitchen. Maybe I’ll drop hints for Christmas. Looks like there was lots of fun over half term for them all.
