I dream of winning the National Lottery jackpot on an almost daily basis with a bigger house, new car and a dream holiday top of my list of wants.
In conjunction with Britmums, the National Lottery are asking what we’d do with £20k.
Obviously it’s not enough to do all of the above unless I change my name to Marty McFly and find the Delorian plus Dr Emmett Brown and whisk the family back to a time when 20k would cover those luxuries and more.

I am lucky that we are now almost on top of the upgrading our doer-up house needed. In the 8 years we have been here we have done the kitchen, bathroom, electrics, windows and decoration. Although the jobs feel never ending it is pretty much done so upgrading the car would be top of my list.
Now, my boys wouldn’t get the car of their dreams – not by a long shot – and Jeremy Clarkson would be holding his head in his hands at my choice, but we need a 7 seater MPV.

I brooched the subject of a bigger car when we fell pregnant with Sebastian and my husband was determined that we would manage and would take two cars if we all needed to go out together.
Sebastian arrived in June and since the school holidays began it has become abundantly clear that taking two cars is not practical for a number of reasons – petrol, parking, traffic and even “comfort breaks” make it tough enough but then you get the bickering over who is going in what car (they all want Daddy’s) which is smaller than mine!
20k wouldn’t cover my dream Volvo XC90, but it would buy me my second choice VW Sharan – albeit one that’s a couple of years old.
Apart from the daft name – I mean who calls a car Sharon (sorry Volkswagon), it has everything we need:
- Sliding rear doors – no more trying to stop the kids opening their doors into the car next door and easier to get in and out in cramp parking spaces
- 3 good size seats that comfortably take car seats and two more in the back for the teens
- Boot space in the back with ALL the seats up for the buggy and / or luggage
- Climate Control
- Sat Nav
The only thing it is missing is a remote control to keep the kids quiet!!
