LEGO Jurassic World Launch

On Saturday we were invited to Hyde Park for the launch of LEGO Jurassic World.

Hidden away at the Look Out near Marble Arch was a rather large dinosaur rib entrance to the Jurassic World event which had new game for demonstration, an LEGO Egg hunt and even awesome face painting, food and treats!

As we walked in, the look on the kids faces was a picture as we were presented with a giant LEGO dinosaur to pose with. They soon spotted the food on offer and had to make the difficult decision between Popcorn, Ice Cream and Candy Floss.  There were healthy treats on offer too but the popcorn won out.

One of the first challenges we were set was to find the LEGO Dinosaur eggs that were hidden around the Look Out.  Whoever found a speckled egg won a huge LEGO Jurassic Park set and those that found the smaller plain eggs won small Jurassic LEGO characters.

The kids spent ages hunting for the eggs which were really well hidden.  So well hidden that it took a good 15-20 minutes to find them all – a great way of keeping the kids occupied!  Once finished Isaac and Eliza got their faces painted in true Jurassic style – Eliza as a “Chatter-saurus” which looked as though it was taking as she opened and closed her mouth and Isaac as something more scary!

Face painting and egg hunting done, it was time to have a look at the new LEGO Jurassic World range and try out the new game on a PS4 console.  The boys were hooked immediately and completed the demo in super quick time – both are now using their best influencing skills on me to buy it as soon as it is released.

The LEGO Jurassic World sets have the amazing attention to detail that you would expect from them and the dinosaurs are realistically scary.  The game and toys are aimed at children age 7 and up, which is perfect for Isaac as he has just turned 7.

With the games completed it was time to head home but not before we had sampled the ice cream and candy floss too.

As we left we were given a goody bag with the new LEGO Pteranodon Capture set inside.  The boys wanted to open it on the journey home but thankfully I managed to persuade them to wait until we got home, but I didn’t even get a chance to get a photo of the box they were that keen to build it.

Emergency – a pteranodon has grabbed an ACU trooper and is flying away with him gripped in its claws. Jump into the cockpit of the cool Jurassic One helicopter with Simon Masrani, soar into the sky and speed to the rescue. When you have the pteranodon in your sights, open the side door to hang out on the platform and fire the net shooter to capture the dinosaur before it can escape. Includes 2 minifigures: Simon Masrani and an ACU trooper with a weapon.

The boys have announced they want to build the whole LEGO Jurassic World – looks like birthdays and Christmas are sorted for a while.

  1. Wow there literally is Lego for everything these days isn’t there? I remember when all you could do is build a house and there was only ever one big bit for a base or a roof x

  2. I’ve got a house full of Lego and my son is always stopping by the dinosaur toys in the shops at the moment. He is going to love this new range.

  3. Wow-this looks fantastic! We’ve not been there for a while but I like that they change their attractions now and again. Love the face paints! Maybe we should go back soon. Glad you all had a great time.
