BRICKLIVE in the Park – Battersea

Ready, steady, BUILD! Brick masters from brick based live events company BRICKLIVE in the Park popped up at Battersea Power Station on 6 and 7 August.

The iconic building has inspired the latest replica build; a brick-by-brick community-led construction of Battersea Power Station. The resulting model led by BRICKLIVE master builder Joe Cann showcased historic chimneys and turbine halls – nodding to it having provided one fifth of London’s electricity in its prime.

Using 78,000 bricks the community led build stood at 2.2m long by 1.6m wide and 1.2 m high (the size of an electric smart car) and anyone visiting can get involved by building their block section for the model.

The Power Station provided the backdrop to stunning brick-based sculptures – a giant squid, Mystical Beasts a Pegasus and a Hippogriff and astronaut Neil Armstrong. For younger brick lovers a ‘sit on’ Duplo car and speedboat were on hand for play and photo opportunities. The brick models and build have popped up ahead of a London’s first family friendly BRICKLIVE in the Park – which opens in Battersea Park on 20 August and runs until 24 August. The Battersea Power Station build will transfer to the park.
