Project 365 2015 – Week 46

After last week being mostly wiped out with Eliza being poorly I was hopeful that the other kids had escaped it, but sadly Sebastian came down with it too.

We started the week well with a trip to WWE Live in Birmingham and Isaac was over the moon to see some of his heroes up close. His little face as Finn Balour came out was pure excitement and awe.

Monday it was back to school and I thought Isaac would be tired but he had a great day at school and even scored and saved a goal at water polo.

Tuesday was Egyptian day at school and Isaac was dressed for the part. Wednesday started well and Sebastian went to playgroup but by the end of the afternoon I knew he wasn’t right and by the late evening he was being sick.

Thursday and Friday were spent at home snuggled on the sofa with my poorly boy but I did manage to get outside with Eliza to take some pictures for a review, and we spotted a rainbow on the school run.

Saturday everyone was back to full health but the weather was rubbish so we met up with friends at Lemur Landings soft play centre.

Here is my week in pictures:

Orchard Toys Shopping List Review

For those of you that follow my blog, you will know that Sebby is struggling with his speech and we have been referred to get him assessed. Personally I think it is more a case of he cannot get a word in edgeways in our household so I am keen to get him talking more, especially when his siblings are at school.

I was chatting to Liska from New Mum Online and she recommended I get the Shopping List Game from Orchard Toys to help bring on Sebby’s vocabulary as this award winning game encourages memory and literacy skills.

The game itself is suitable for 2 to 4 players, who each take a trolley or a basket that they must fill along with one of four shopping lists. All the items are made from a sturdy, wipe-clean board, which means that the game will withstand constant playing, and the colourful illustrations allow the game to be played by young children with no reading ability.

To play, turn over one of the 32 cards showing familiar, everyday items from the supermarket, such as eggs, tomatoes, washing powder and aubergines, and if they are on your list, you can pop them in your trolley. The winner is the first player to collect all the items on their list and fill their trolley.

As Sebby is only 2, we play it slightly differently at the moment. Sebastian is learning to recognise the grocery products and I encourage him to find the item on the list and repeat its name as we do so. Some things are easier than others but I have noticed a huge improvement in his speech already as it is a game we play almost daily.

Shopping List

The game can promote plenty of discussion, not only whilst he is playing, but also on a shopping trip to a real supermarket – Sebastian can see how many items from the game he can see on the shelves.

The game can be supplemented with one or both of the booster packs (‘fruit and veg’ or ‘clothes’) to increase the number of players and/or the number of items to buy.

We are all enjoying the game. Isaac and Eliza play it the correct way and Sebby’s vocabulary is growing daily, although sometimes it is only Mummy who knows what he is saying!!

Shopping List is available in all good toy shops for an RRP of £7.

Frugi

It’s going to be a Frugi Christmas! #FrugiFamily

If you read my blog you will know we are huge fans of the clothing brand Frugi and are part of their #FrugiFamily campaign.

If you have not heard of Frugi before they are a UK based company that designs clothes that children really do love to wear with great designs, vibrant colours and cute Frugi characters!

Whether it’s paddling in the sea, splashing through muddy puddles or playing in the park, their clothes are designed to be long lasting and durable, so children can be children! In fact many of the Frugi clothes that Isaac has now grown out of have been put away for Sebastian as they still looks as good as new.

Frugi also use supersoft organic cotton for their clothes making sure that little ones are comfy, safe and happy. The breathable qualities in organic cotton make it much kinder to baby’s and children’s delicate skin and much less likely to trigger those horrible allergies.

We were invited to choose an item from their new winter range of clothes and I knew what I wanted straight away. Last year Eliza had the Twirly Bow dress for Christmas and has worn it numerous times to birthday parties and school discos, always drawing in lots of comments about how gorgeous it is.

This year the Twirly Bow Dress is back which a snowy town print. The gorgeous layered dress is perfect for kids to dress for Christmas and parties. The snowy town scenes are contrasted with a burgundy polka dot ribbon at the waist which can be tied into a bow at the back.

Eliza adores her new twirly dress and loves to spin and make the skirt fly out. I am going to invest in the Laura Cardigan to go with it to keep her warm when it gets chilly, but I know this will be a much loved dress again this year.

Don’t just take my word for how great I think Frugi is – join Natty from Down Side Up and get their opinion and see what they chose for Christmas too.
